Student, 20, who repeatedly raped girl, 12, he met on Tinder avoids jail after judge said he was ‘immature’ and thought she was over 16 while his ‘sexualised’ victim acted ‘suggestively’

  1. Interesting case… female judge sparing the (guilty) defendant jail… and a young girl (child) posing as an adult in several ways.

There’s nonces targeting young children and then there’s this lad. Much as he’s technically guilty, this should be a bit of a horror story for any young Tinder user looking for a partner – you can’t assume they’re who they claim to be.

  2. That poor stupid guy. And that poor girl.

Not sure what benefit there is to society in any of this.

Edit: looks like the Mail are having a pop at this judge though. For 0 reason.

  3. > adding that he thought she was an adult because ‘she had a car and a place to live’.

To be…..somewhat fair, that doesn’t scream “12 Year Old”.

I suspect had she been 13, making this a different offence, he would have succesfully defended it on that basis. It’s not a legal defence for under 13’s, hence the conviction but leniant sentencing.

  4. The thing is she not old enough to have any social media like Facebook, insta ect never mind tinder

You actually need to be 18 to have a tinder account. 18 is the lowest age you can set it. The question is why does she want to get with adults rather than people her own age. If it wasn’t this guy someone else will be a victim for her!
