**On his loyalty and love for Borussia Dortmund:** “For me, it mainly just comes from my heart. I’m someone who appreciates what I’ve got, and I love feeling comfortable and being in a good environment where I feel free. I need freedom in my life, and this club has always made that possible for me. So there was never really a reason for me to say “OK, I’m going to do something else”. That’s why I always decided to stay.”
**On his time at Dortmund:** “Looking back at everything that has happened over the last few years, I’ve realised that time is precious. You really should start enjoying your time early on. I’ve said before that the thing I’ll probably miss the most is going to training, hanging out with the boys in the dressing room, and just having fun. I won’t miss the games as much, or training, but I’ll miss being around all my friends, messing around, and just spending time together. We’ve been together for almost the whole year, and sometimes I see the boys more than my family, so you form relationships that develop into friendships. So I think that’s what I’ll miss the most.”
**On what he will miss the most about Dortmund:** “Basically everything. Arriving on the bus, when you see thousands of people to welcome us as we drive into the stadium. Then we’re on our own for 30-45 minutes, firstly in the dressing room, then outside for the warm up. Then the atmosphere – recently we’ve had lots of home games, including in the Champions League, where the atmosphere has been incredible even when warming up. I know I won’t really experience that noise again, and I’ve tried to soak it up, so that I can look back on it at least. Then celebrating with the fans after the game, obviously. And of course the feeling of scoring a goal.”
**On the farewell today:** “It’s very special when the whole stadium shouts your name. I think it’s a bit of everything, and obviously it’ll be a lot, so I’ll need time over the next few weeks and months to process everything. But as I say, I know how lucky I’ve been to play there, especially for such a long time. I’m not great at speaking, to be honest, so I don’t think I’ll pick up the microphone in front of 80,000 people. But we’ll see. I’m not sure yet, so we’ll see what happens.”
**On his message being viewed by 25 million people that he will leave BVB:** “No, and I was amazed and shocked that it caused such a stir. Anyone who knows me will know that I’ve never liked being the centre of attention, because that’s just how I am. But obviously it’s nice that so many people around the world have followed this club, and me, throughout my career, because they automatically associate the player with the club. So it’s absolutely amazing, and obviously it makes me very proud.”
**On talking with Sancho who will set up whom on Saturday:** “I really don’t mind! The main thing is that we end the Bundesliga season on a positive note. You know me: I don’t care who scores or who gets the assist in the end. It’s important that we win the game, and that we prepare well for what’s coming up in two weeks’ time.”
**On celebrating with the fans after the win against PSG:** “I got lots of photos and messages afterwards, and some of the pictures were absolutely incredible. That was the first time I was up on the “fence” – it wasn’t a proper fence, but I was with those guys in the stand. What they do is unbelievable, for every away game and every home game. I realised just what they do for every single game. It’s incredible, and it’s a different atmosphere from when you’re 10-15 yards away.”
**Interviewer: “As we can see here, you almost looked unsure: “Is this really happening?””**
“Because it was my first time. As I say, I’m not someone who likes being the centre of attention. They called me over, and there’s basically no better opportunity to go over there. So I thought I had to do it, but I was amazed, and I wanted the boys to do it with me because I didn’t want to be on my own at the heart of it.”
Reus on watching a montage: “Sweet! Emotional!”
**Interviewer: “Is it hard for you to watch that kind of thing?”**
“No, I can honestly watch it with a smile. Over the last 12 years, there have been wonderful moments, which I’ll remember for the rest of my life. I just feel a kind of gratitude – it’s a nice feeling to experience moments like those here at this club. I’ve seen so many people come and go here, so I’m just incredibly grateful. Yeah, obviously I’m conscious that Tuesday was my last public training session, for example, that these are my last few weeks, and that on Saturday I have my last home game. Lots of things are going through my mind, and I’m trying to process them in a structured way, because obviously I want to focus on training and on the game. But obviously it has affected me, and I think it will be very emotional for me personally, and for my family and friends as well.”
**Interviewer: “You’ve scored 99 goals for BVB at the Signal Iduna Park.”**
Reus: “Oh my god!”
**Interviewer: “And right now you have 299 scorer points for BVB.”**
Reus: “Oh my god!”
**Interviewer: “Two stats that have to change on Saturday, right?”**
Reus: “Yeah, then I’ll have to ask Jadon and everyone else to let me have one scorer point. 300 would be nice. 300 would obviously be a cool number.”
