  1. Are the attacks on Welsh culture in the room right now?

  2. Is the like a lifetime Labour supporter? Why does he think this is happening? Or shall I guess it’s not negligent WG spending on vanity projects it’s the tories for not giving more than 15% per head more thab England?

Nothing to to with the billions wasted here.

  3. There speaks a man who is scared at the prospect of all his luvvie friends having to get real jobs.

  4. In the article he’s on about attack on culture in Wales, not attacks on Welsh culture.

And he’s right. The Welsh arts sector is being gutted by funding cuts despite the arts being one of Wales’ biggest international exports.

  5. Over half the Welsh Government’s budget goes on the NHS. Most of the rest goes to support local government in the provision of education and social services. Despite this, the NHS is still struggling, schools are facing real difficulty and social care is overloaded.

The practical reality is that unless you are willing to cut pay for teachers, nurses and doctors or staffing levels, you need to cut everything else in Wales in order to pay for it.

  6. sheesh if these commenters don’t settle down this place will attract the wrath of the totally normal good omens fans

  7. I have such a crush on Michael Sheen. He’s got such a joie de vivre twinkle.

  8. He should focus on what he’s good at…which as far as I can tell is chasing young girls?

  9. > He listed funding cuts at Welsh National Opera, National Theatre Wales and Museum Wales as examples of “an attack on culture” in Wales.

There’s more to “culture” than classical opera, theatre and national museums.

There’s sports, more modern music, comedy, and fringe theatre. All of whom also are just as deserving of funding.

As much as Sheen might want to protect these National Institutions, they are incredibly cliquey institutions full of people like himself: graduates of the big drama academies and children of other theatre professionals.

I’m not sure taxpayers should be heavily subsidising these institutions full of nepotism and family connections over much more grass roots initiatives.

  10. If only the Welsh government didn’t waste millions on the stupid 20mph speed limit….

Welsh labour is so bad, as there’s practically no competition

  11. Well that mini-series you made that was set in Wales was terrible so maybe respect your own culture by writing something better

  12. yeah but the difference is YOU didn’t export to .csv, I did!

  13. Didn’t this ( arts in Wales)get a big subsidy from the EU? Didn’t Wales have a huge, like huge leave vote for Brexit?
