MiG-31 and the S-30 are quite dangerous machines and expensive. So The Ukrainian F-16 will have less to worry now.
A great strike for sure, and it will help ease some of the pressure on the frontlines.
However, I can’t repeat often enough that Putin *wants* this war, it’s not good for Russia, it’s not good for Ukraine, and it’s not good for the rest of the world, but it’s keeping Putin in power. No matter how many aircraft are destroyed, Russia *will* keep sending young men into the meatgrinder. And while Russia isn’t producing huge amounts of weapons and munitions, they’re producing enough to stretch this war out for years to come.
The only way this bloodshed will end in the foreseeable future is if Ukraine wins (because there’s simply no reality in which Russia wins). How that can be accomplished can be debated about, be it NATO boots on the ground or much more significant support of Ukraine, but it should be repeated again and again that what NATO is doing currently simply isn’t enough.
IOW, 10 ATACMS missiles assuming all reached the target area. 3000 makes for a better headline though.
Ukraine probably also sent in a bunch of drones to keep the AA busy.
I would have liked to have heard it… from a safe distance.
Imagine if we grew a pair and let Ukraine use the ATACMs on concentrations of Russian troops in Russia.
Wonder what the over under on the blogger’s remaining days is…
Now to know that there are now four less jets Ukraine has to worry about.
