Unmasking Hezbollah – Money laundering in Europe (3/3) | DW Documentary

In 2008, the United States launched “Project Cassandra”. The aim was to uncover how Hezbollah uses drug trafficking and money laundering to finance its military and terrorist activities. The 3-part series tells the story of the project.

France has been the country of choice for Hezbollah fighters seeking asylum since 2010. France offers several benefits, including the possibility of integrating into a large Lebanese community and freedom of movement on European territory. Paris became a center for laundering money from the cocaine trade.

The D.E.A., the American Drug Enforcement Agency, alerted the French police. Together they opened a new chapter of Operation Cassandra, named “Operation Cedar,” after the tree that symbolizes Lebanon.

  4. Dw has woken up to warn up American propaganda. You should have asked the question why these people have come to this last stance ? It's Americans and Israeli interests who undermining the region. Instead of saving lives and better move on equal rights Middle East has been subject to colonial occupation in one form or an other.

    Stop forcing your beliefs on others. Let thet go and we can all live without fighting and death. Ffs compromising is taught in kindergarten. Everyone wants to fight for leaders who make billions. Have you not caught on? Right and left you name it otherwise. They want us to fight amongst ourselves so we don’t fight them.

    Stop justifying religion or creed. If your “god” didn’t touch them then so be it. Ffs just move on and live in peace. Stop funneling money to a few people while many starve. We can all live comfortably if we remove to billionaires from the equation. Their goal and influence is to make up lies for us to fight.

  12. Project Cassandra wasn't sacrificed 4 politics, it was sacrificed 4 money. All those deals signed in Paris? 15 billion euros? U think they were going 2 pass up on all that cash? Money talks. It beats everything else, even what's right. Especially what's right 2 be honest.

  13. It quite the same the lebanese civil war stopped because they ran out of drug money, the whole world had gone into recession. Let us all see now what will happen when it happens again and it will when man can not do anything to stop criminals, God will step in and it is happening now,ww3 they have to be stopped. The port explosion was done by the Israelis ,lebanese government could not stop the protesters so they stepped in and took the opportunity a very smart move by the Israelis, Christians in Lebanon that wanted hezbollah to look bad.

  16. This series was really good. I learned a lot. Thank you. Very well done documentary. I can see now who and why the conflict in the Middle East is now. It’s not about Israel and land. It’s criminal governments using Israel as a scapegoat. What resistance does Hezbollah have with Israel? Are they making a claim to the land now too? The only thing they’re resisting is arrest and GITMO.

  20. A good documentary . Now make a similar documentary for PKK/YPG which commits similar crimes (drug -human traficking , terrorism, money laundering ,child soldiers , killing civilians ,ethnic cleansing ,suicide attacks ) if you are brave enough and truly free from German government .
