In Real Life journeys into the world of one of Ukraine’s most accomplished FPV drone pilots — a 20-year-old former medical student (he goes by the callsign ‘Darwin’) who personifies the evolutionary leap in drone warfare.
Scripps News’ international correspondent, Jason Bellini, received extraordinary access to the secret bunker of the ‘Achilles’ Strike UAV Battalion, which is part of Ukraine’s 92nd Assault Brigade.
What do you think of Darwin and his team? Can units like theirs change the course of the war?

I have a hard time believing they have not been found as sloppy they are in tactical movement into the position and then you are showing the guys face….
Nicotine caffeine amphetamine and adrenaline..
Slava Ukraine
Bro this reporter is definitely on some zeley coka
If homie digs RHCP check out the Big Boys. Chili peppers used to go to their shows..and it shows.
You may not realize that it is a racist call sign i.e. he is eliminating a weaker race. It is easy to lose the picture (and you may be an all-white org), but this is obvious to many readers this is a racist/ideological call name.
Таких уже сотни обнаружили и нанесли по ним удар.Одни ашмётки от них разлетаются,когда их обнаруживают
This Darwin guy lives on coffee and nicotine apparently. Edit: Go Ukraine! Russia, don't touch US boats!

Your resistance is an inspiration to us
Matrix
Oof, Darwin is a sci fi beast. But he'd better get screened for PTSD before he gets older.
Dudes become the matrix
Smart kid for 20 yrs old
On the surface. Kind of like watching thugs in the hood blast away at each other. Yet dark forces run deep. And the paths are well worn
If the Russians don't like it they can always just go home.
Excellent reporting. Putin has forced this young man, who would be normally saving lives, to take them. Shame on Putin and Russia for this unnecessary hardship.
Если его возьмут в плен и узнают, что он оператор дрона – его расстреляют. А вместо повязки на глаза наденут эти очки 😂
Дарвін, дякую Тобі! Слава Україні!❤
China needs to be held accountable for selling drone parts to both sides and making money off war
Ukraine didn't even have an army 3 years ago and they turned rushns' into the joke military of the world
Please, PLEASE, cut out the incredibly terrible "Musak". No one can distinguish between your words and the damnable musak.
Ukraine wants 150,000 soldiers from NATO countries to work as "advisors"
Great journalism and brave journalist and crew as always. Darwin and his team are the new breed of badass soldier of 21st century this war and future wars will be like this hunting enemies in your favorite couch listening to music and drinking esspresso. By far Darwin is the best fpv operator a very skilled and so professional operator who never quits and just go on and on until he hits the target and also his crew are best. Im 49 y.o now i have 2 kids this time i am encouraging my two sons to start learning more flying their drones hone their skills and make it their best skills who knows war broke out they be called to fight sure they can enlist as drone operator and they can be a good pilot without leaving and hunting without firing any rounds.
Hard for these guys after the war given the amount of killing non combatants and the wounded they upload (war crimes)
What would the Kamikaze pilots of wwii think of this?
Dude is gonna be having a real bad day once Ukraine surrenders lol.
In the subtitles they write “russians” but he says “faggots”, “orcs” etc 😂😂👍
Would foil stop their jamming?
🇺🇦 is 🏆 🤔
This was a fascinating and well produced documentary. Darwin is a badass
Now show us some cool young Russians. Oh wait, you won't do that because this is propaganda, not journalism.
I dislike how it is now some very widely assumed notion now that soldiers will inevitably succumb to the tortures of PTSD. The interviewer in this film talks as though it is a guaranteed scenario for soldiers fighting in the war… Whilst this might ultimately be true in today's climate i think it is largely only because of our current ways of thinking in society about war, and death and dying, and it could be these very ways of thinking that ultimately increase the chances of soldiers suffering from PTSD. Like the interviewer and everyone else around them just assuming that PTSD is on the cards makes it even more likely the soldiers will lose confidence about their futures. The thinking that these soldiers' experiences are so far out there that they will never ever be able to cope annoys me and i wish that wasn't an assumption people just naturally make these days.
I think there needs to be a rethinking of how society at large deals with war. It used to be back in the day warriors were just a normal aspect of life. It was understood that life can be very raw and messy and death, and dead bodies are just a normal aspect of that for the general populace and for soldiers. With how insulated we are today from death and destruction, i think one of the biggest dangers of war is the shock individuals go through when confronted with the death and destruction after having not been close to it throughout the rest of the lives – and the divide that certain experiences of war create between soldiers and the general populace.
We (most people) can walk into a butcher's shop and see a dead cow hanging from a hook and have a fantastic day after that – preparing for a birthday party, or picking up ingredients for a special meal at home, in absolutely comfortable bliss… But if someone walked into a room with dead and skinned human bodies hanging, and limbs and heads strew about it is quite possible they will be massively negatively affected for the rest of their lives – and need therapy, and drugs to cope.
So my thought is that we are just looking at these two scenarios through different lenses… And if we could develop a way of thinking about war and the death of humans that allows individuals to traverse these experiences with less risk of long term damage, i think we could be all the better for it.
We don't have to become callous and violent and bloodthirsty, but to educate people more about death and the decay of living human life, and to expose more people to it in a scientific way, might allow individuals such as Darwin here to not even have a thought that this might have some traumatic effect. If society celebrated warriors, celebrated their need, and shared in the understanding of the gruesome realities of war, there might not be such a dividing line placed between people that have been forced to experience this stuff through no fault of their own, and the regular everyday populace who often cannot relate to the warrior's life.
Long story short, it seems wars like this, with soldiers who are fighting for a just cause, seem like they haven't gone away yet, and so why can we not as a society try to understand and accept human death more constructively and help out these soldiers better, rather than trying to live in a bubble where none of this stuff even really exists in any real way for mass populace. Can we share the trauma collectively rather than heaping it all on those poor individuals who are conscripted to fight on everyone else's behalf. Can we not celebrate warriors, rather than alienate them and keep at an arms length?
I for one would not want my face advertised on social media as i suspect this video just made it easier for longer term recriminations post war when Russia it is conducting trials. Would not want to be looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life.
I wish they didn't show Darwins face, that's not cool. But I am so proud of Ukranians they ar 4th strongest people on earth. Slava Ukraine
Who says soldiers cannot work from home.
