Hi! I’m looking for some bulgarian folklore in 4/4 with some good improvisations in major keys. Saxophone improvisation would be amazing, if not, kaval, gadulka, clarinet are all welcome. I just can’t seem to find improvisations in 4/4 and major, most are in 9/8, 7/8 or 7/16 or minor. Any help is greatly appreciated!

EDIT:
This is a good example of what mode and measure I’m looking for, at minute 3:30: (it can really be slower, doesn’t matter, the style needs to match)

EDIT 2:
I think I’m looking for horo and kuchek style of music

  1. 9/8 is very popular I think. Since I don’t know much about music theory, could you give an example of something that sounds close to what you’re looking for? Also, are you looking for Bulgarian Bulgarian folk or Bulgarian-Gypsy-Turkish folk is ok too?

  2. I’ve studied folk clarinet and there rarely were purely major solos in the book. Most had the odd note here or there to turn the scale into phrygian mode or mixed sections between major and minor. Or the harmonic background was major chords but the solos often were in harmonic minor/mixed.
