Record number of Asian hornet sightings in UK

if you see this insect report it immediately we’re talking about Asian Hornets these insects are considered invasive alien species this means they are transported around the world by humans into places they wouldn’t naturally be they pose a huge threat to pollinators and honeybees eating up to 50 a day Asian Hornets usually live in Southeast Asia but there has been 108 sightings in the UK since 2016 with eight confirmed sightings this year even though this species is not established in the UK getting rid of them is essential because their impact on the population of bees and wasps will affect the UK’s biodiversity and cost the UK’s economy billions every year according to the department for environment food and Rural affairs

People are being urged to report sighting of Asian hornets after a record number were seen in the UK last year, if you see one you can report it on the Asian hornet App.

  5. I saw one the other day … I squealed and my uncle sprayed it with fly and wasp spray and killed it. I live 30 miles west of London 🇬🇧 it was huge 😮 who are we to report it to?? 🤔
