  1. Dan Snyder, the disgraced former owner of the Washington Commanders, is less than thrilled about the premiere of a movie critical of Donald Trump at the Cannes Film Festival—even though he helped fund it.

    The Apprentice covers Trump’s early years in the real estate industry—and focuses on the former president’s relationship with notorious political fixer Roy Cohn and his relationship with his first wife, Ivana—and premiered on Monday at Cannes to a rapturous eight-minute standing ovation. Little more was known about the film, which stars Sebastian Stan as Trump and Succession’s Jeremy Strong as Cohn, before its premiere—aside from the fact that Snyder hated it and wanted it shelved.

  17. How wonderful this film is coming out and just at the right time. Remember this is a litany that’s goes back to Joseph McCarthy, who taught Roy Cohn who taught the POS that is trying to destroy our democracy. The lessons are always attack, never give in, always be on the offense, always project your faults onto the other guy, never show any humility or introspection, etc. Hopefully, if we can survive this latest litany of human garbage, we can take steps to prevent its reoccurrence. But like covid-19, there are others waiting in the wings to infect us once again.

  28. I can’t blame billionaires for acting in their own self-interest. It’s only human, even if it is being an asshole.

    What I can do is marvel in how utterly short-sighted it is.

    These guys think they’re buying a pliable puppet that will cut their taxes to zero and give them a cheap, uneducated workforce to improve their profit margins.

    What they’ll actually get is a Putin-esque dictator/mob boss that will demand his cut and if they fail to pay their share will find themselves taking the fast way down a skyscraper.

    Oh, and they’ll end up wrecking the economy and country that made them rich in the first place.

Also a grifter and snake oil salesman who had no problem denigrating Native Americans for years, who cut trees on national park land that was blocking the view of the river from his house, who looked the other way at harassment in his organization — that Dan Snyder? Possibly the second most hated man in Washington when Trump is in town.
