  1. “Video hosting YouTube blocked four videos from Russian channels dedicated to military service evasion, at the request of Roskomnadzor. This was reported on Monday, May 20, by the Agency News Telegram channel.

YouTube restrictions included videos published on the channels “Dozor in Volgograd”, “School of the Conscript” and another unnamed independent regional media outlet. In addition, the Agency writes, the video hosting site threatened to block the channel of the human rights project OVD-Info.

All four notifications that the channels received from YouTube stated that the blocking was carried out on the initiative of Roskomnadzor, since “the channel’s materials violate the federal law “On Information.” As a cybersecurity expert told the Agency, the platform had not previously blocked opposition content according to demand of the Russian authorities, and “there is no way out of such a ban for independent media and human rights projects”

  2. Why would they agree? Last I heard YouTube in Russia didn’t have monetization or even have ads anymore, so what does it matter if they didn’t block the channel? They should block the pro-russia-pro-war ones instead & in terms of news on YouTube give them nothing but facts about the horrors of war their leaders started and they supported.

  3. If YouTube do what the russian government asks – why it is not under sanctions? Some penalty should be enforced for those who help russian government which is the sponsor of a genocide

  4. Funniest thing is – YouTube declared that they stopped doing business in Russia. They’ve closed their office in Moscow, they don’t even show their ads to Russian IPs anymore. But they’re still cooperating with Russian authorities.

  5. what a shame. don’t ever cave to aggressors. 🤦🏾‍♀️

  6. Blocked in Russia only? Or all other regions? The first one is understandable

  7. How about videos to avoid drafting by the Ukrainian army?

Are they ok or should be blocked too?

  8. Total shame, almost all of the big corporations nowadays bow down to dictatorship regimes and are being used for anti-democratic propaganda

  9. “…at the request of Roskomnadzor”: something tells me that it wasn’t really a “request”.

  10. It surprisingly easy to avoid using most of Googles services and products, and block the rest.

If they don’t have the ethical integrity to pull out of, rather than pander to, literal dictatorships, they can’t be trust with anything, let alone information that’s critical to your well being and security.

  11. Corporations that participate in wars should be sanctioned accordingly.
