  1. The assets "seized" are mostly loans to Russian institutions. This is very different to the assets frozen by the West which are real investment assets that can be realised. The west has been procrastinating about seizing these russian assets. It Putin really does seize these western bank assets ( ie mostly loans to Russian institutions) then you can be sure the doors will open to the West seizing Russia's investments.
If Russia goes ahead it will suffer far more than the West. Russia needs western investments and funding far more than the other way round. Without western investment Russia would still be a post soviet basket case.
No one in their right mind will put any money into Russia given sovereign risk unless there is a commensurate risk premium. ie, far higher interest rates for loans and bond etc. That is if you can persuade western investors at all.
All you get from the pro-russian trolls though are banalities like "Great job Russia". Yea. LOL.

  2. Russian response is pathetic. Whether they win war in Ukraine is immaterial, there economy will collapse, just like USSR. They now have an economist head of defence, who is known proponent of the planned economy. Putin has learned nothing from history.

  3. Heavy karma…the Western Banks openly took peoples money in Cyprus…somehow that has never been news. Thank you Russia

  4. Can someone with sense of reality replace Ursula and Charles Michel with people that have a sense of reality? These people live in a bubble, far away from where they should be to understand what is going on…

  5. The west siezed 3 billion russian assets while russia oniy 700 mlillion thats not right…..

  6. The US and EU countries are not learning their own mistakes. The Day will come that they will not have time to turn back but to directly falling down.

  7. $700 million in Western assets vs the $300 billion in Russian assets held by Western banks … I’m kinda guessing that the EU will make that trade any day of the week???

  8. Assss buttt wipes. America does not invade countries. We , in America, have had a long line of criminals in high office . Even the presidency. This is in response to criminal governments around the world.

  9. It's funny almost to the point of being hilarious that Putin is sufficiently deluded that he thinks he can actually 'win' this war in any meaningful sense.

  10. OK ……shut the plants down and walk away. Let the unemployment rate skyrocket. Anyone wonder how long Russia can survive on it's own? While Putin is at it, ALL remaining companies in RUSSIA should pull the plug as well. Let them all convert to MILITARY SUPPLIES ….like what happened all over the world during WWI & WWII.
