Russia’s creeping advance gathers momentum against Ukrainian defenders

since the start of the Year moscow’s taken 654 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory about 250 square miles and they’ve seized a third of that this month alone several big cities which are also military hubs for Ukraine such as costantina katos and sloviansk could be threatened if this momentum continues and moscow’s creeping Advance near Chaz y once a mining town with 150,000 residents could put key roads that Ukraine uses to resupply its troops in range of Russian guns then there’s what looks like an impending assault on kiv Ukraine’s Second City so why is this happening what’s changed the biggest reason is the sheer weight of troops and material Russia is now bringing to bear in some parts of the front line it’s got five even up to 20 times the number of soldiers Ukraine according to a report by the UK Think Tank rusi Moscow now has 510,000 troops in Ukraine and it’s continuing to recruit 20 to 30,000 troops a month it’s lost a lot of its officers and better trained troops and that’s limited the size of the attacks it can mount but it’s now using these platoon and Company sized assaults to its Advantage by launching them simultaneously at lots of different points along the front line from belgorod and Sumi in the north right down to zapar IA in the South that’s stretching the Ukrainian troops and thinning out what limited artillery ammunition they do have as they desperately wait for this $61 billion of USA to show up another reason is the deterioration of Ukraine’s air defenses particularly Sam’s surface to a missiles Ukraine is managing to shoot down Russian drones and missiles but many more are getting through and without the threat of getting shot down Russian jets are flying closer to the front line dropping hundreds of deadly Glide bombs like these with more accuracy against Ukrainian defenses just like artillery shells the lack of air defense also means the ukrainians are having to make a choice about what they use them against unsurprisingly top of the list is those Russian jets that means they’re not being used against Russian drones and that says the rusy paper is reason number three for Russia’s recent gains Moscow is sending large numbers of drones over Ukrainian positions looking for targets it’s got much better at launching Dynamic missile strikes hitting targets very quickly before the ukrainians have time to move the rousi paper says they’ even hit Ukrainian helicopters on the ground while they were refueling Ukraine and its supporters say this didn’t need to happen if ke had received the military aid it needed earlier they could have kept the Russians on the back foot so will these Russian advances continue well the rusi paper predicts they will attack kiv zapara and also push in the dbass but along with these games Russia’s also suffered staggering losses of men and Equipment the Russian military wants to win this war as fast as it can because they know there is a finite supply of both but right now the war has reached an inflection point Moscow has the momentum almost certainly ahead for Ukraine some of the most difficult months of this war Simon Newton forces news thanks for watching for more from forces news like And subscribe to our Channel

  2. All nations supporting Ukraine should've stepped up supplies whilst the US REpublicans were blocking aid. Sounds pretty simple and straightforward yte couldn't have been considering what has happened..

    Or maybe they did and we could've seen even larger gains for Russia?

    Just how the Russian people can put up with such high losses beggars me. They can't all be prisoners past redemption? Even then, they are peoples' sons.

  6. 654 sq km? This is about a week or two out of date already; two days ago the number was 880 sq km so with the expansion of the line east of Vovchansk yesterday, I'm certain RU gain is over 1000 sq km as of today. All of AFU's trained troops are engaged; they have no ready reserves. Reports say they have 100K or so conscripts ready to be trained but they can't train them in large numbers in Ukraine because RU rules the sky. I hate to say we told you so two years ago, but we told you so two years ago…

  7. Once again, the "Russian staggering losses" myth! How come Russian losses are "staggering" but it is the Ukrainians who are the ones with manpower shortages? And how are Ukrainians inflicting staggering losses on the Russians if they are short of ammunition?

  12. There was never any realistic chance of beating Russia. This war was lost months ago. Ukraine also harboured ISIS terrorists, in case you did not know. The Independent reported on this in 2019.

  15. The war could have been stopped before it started. NATO needed to confirm no further expansion towards Russia and Ukraine needed to stop courting the European Union. US policies have been a disaster, Russia is now a much more serious threat to Europe, now it's re-armed and battle ready and what will the US do – pull out like Vietnam and Afghanistan?

  25. What are the Russians doing differently? Nothing, really. They have been waging a war of attrition since the beginning. The Ukrainians and their NATO suppliers have been foolish enough to fight a war of attrition against Russia in Ukraine, a type of war which everyone who knew anything always understood the Ukrainians were bound to lose, despite all the lies the Western leaders and their mouthpieces told about "Russia/Putin already having lost the war." What is happening now is that the attrition is finally really starting to take hold and its a process that is only going to speed up. Ukraine needs to do now what it should have done in 2022, recognize that they no longer have the ability to persecute the ethnic Russians of the Donbass and negotiate while they still can.

  38. The West continues to let putin have his way with Ukraine. The West seems to want putin to have his cake (the Donbas) and eat it too (the 4 annexed Oblasts). Forced negotiated settlement because of the bottleneck of the required military hardware to win back the territory putin stole from Ukraine. Shame and disgust.
