a waterborne disease has been found in the Main’s drinking water here in a part of South Devon so what does it mean if you get it cryptos peridium is a tiny parasite that can be found in the guts of wild and domesticated animals and sometimes can contaminate rivers and reservoirs that are used by water companies if you get it it can lead to weeks of diarrhea and dehydration with children under five and those with weaker immune systems most likely to be affected and in serious cases need hospital treatment there is no specific treatment for the parasite itself but those who are infected should stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids

  2. This is the problem with privatised companies, instead of investing, and upgrading infrastructure they shove the profits into stakeholder and investors pockets

  3. I lived in an area that got cryptosporidium contamination in their water supply and it was late seventies/ early eighties. Publicly owned then. We weren’t notified straight away. My whole family was ill. Eventually a whole new pipeline had to be built because the aquifer had been contaminated and it could not be eradicated.

  4. If an animal dies in the river and levels build up it sets off an alarm at the treatment centre. What's the bets this alarms been broken for year's
