Can anyone identify this from my garage?

  1. Looks like the slime mould from that “incredible” Mario movie. The one that’s so so bad it’s actually kind of great.

    Edit – the first picture looks like mycelium to me, so this is very much fungal (though not a slime mould).

  2. Moisture levels are too high and mould has formed could be rot can’t tell

  3. BFG’s spunk. He’s been yanking on his snozzcumber in your garage. If you find an porno mag the size of a bed sheet in the bushes then that confirms it.

  4. You have a leaking roof and a cordyceps infection.

    Take off and nuke the site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

  5. Wet rot. Wood will have to be replaced or it will spread (if the spores haven’t already). You might be lucky and only have to replace the wood that has obviously rotted, but potentially you’re looking at unseen damage which could cause structural issues. The new wood should ideally be treated to avoid fungus reappearing.

  6. Cordyceps. Watch out for the Clickers. Have you any bricks or beer bottles handy?

  7. That looks to be dry rot. I’ve dealt with it a lot in a past job. You’ll need to remove the affected, and surrounding timber. Then it’ll be a fungicidal treatment across the rest of the timber.

    It’s not a quick or cheap job. If you get a cheap quote and they half-arse it, it’ll come back.

    Fungus loves moisture and heat. One of those things.

  8. Serious comment;

    Looks like rot to me. Have an inspection quick.

  9. I’d definitely be able to identify it from your garage, assuming you mean in a line up of them both.

  10. Oh cool, slime mould. With maybe some wet rot.

    You’re gonna want to get rid of that.

    Edit: looks like slime mould on the bricks, isn’t wet rot confined to wood?
