Map showing location of next week’s of Russian Navy exercise and it’s relation to submarine communications cables

  1. Sounds like the plot of a Bond film. Is there an attractive woman involved, it’s not clear whose side she’s on? An arbitrary deadline of some sort? A job suitable for a commando unit but for some reason the British have only sent one guy in a suit?

  2. Ah, so nothing to do with Ireland originally and the furthers shallow point away from it where the cables are more accessible. The target was UK. I couldn’t think of any reason why Russia was messing with Ireland at all.

I have heard about this tactic. Prior to attack – lights out and coms out.

  3. Where is the freaking russian liar telling me it was planned in INTERNATIONAL WATERS?!?!

    WHERE IS HE?!??!

**WHERE IS THE RUSSIAN PSYCH B LIAR?!?!?!**

  4. You must be insane to think that someone would send a whole fleet to cut a few cables. What are they gonna do – torpedo them? Maybe they should just launch an ICBM at those cables to cut them for sure?

And the location has already been moved from Ireland’s EEZ

  5. On a slightly unrelated note; the story of the first submarine cable across the Atlantic is absolutely crazy. The entire cable was made in one factory in Birmingham, England and they had to use one of the biggest ships in the world at the time to lay the thing. Absolutely massive feat of engineering prowess!

  6. If the cables were to be damaged during the exercise, everyone would know who’s to blame. Not even the Russians are that stupid.

Also, why would they cut civilian transatlantic telecommunication lines that are used by millions of Russian internet users each day? It just wouldn’tn’t make any sense.
