Now that over 50 tunnels have been found at the border, it’s pretty clear why Egypt scuttled the deal.
Now that it is unequivocally proven that Egypth was operating a lucrative armament business with Hamas for over a decade, it should be viewed as a guilty party in the war and not some impartial bystander
Funny that Egypt then shuts down the Rafah crossing and runs to the ICC claiming Israel should be charged for not letting aid in.
* sabotaged the deal
* closed Rafah crossing
* joined the ICC circus claims
* had 50+ shared tunnels with Hamas
I mean, do we need any more evidence that Egypt might _not_ be so neutral in this conflict?
EDIT: corrected dead to deal.
All mid-East Arab nations want Israel disestablished and replaced. A ceasefire will not achieve this. Every ceasefire agreement will be disrupted one way or another.
Were people actually duped? I was hearing from day of this particular deal that Egypt had basically said “if we can get Israel to do xyz would you accept the peace agreement” and Hamas said yes. Was I just in the minority? Or did I misunderstand something?
>The three sources familiar with the matter told CNN that a senior Egyptian intelligence official named Ahmed Abdel Khalek was responsible for making the changes. Abdel Khalek is a senior deputy to the Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel, who has been Burns’ counterpart in leading Egypt’s mediation in the ceasefire talks.
>One source familiar with the negotiations said Abdel Khalek told the Israelis one thing and Hamas another. More of Hamas’ demands were inserted into the original framework that Israel had tacitly agreed to in order to secure Hamas’ approval, the source said. But the other mediators were not informed; nor, critically, were the Israelis
That’s interesting if true. Which sounds like 1, or 2 of Egypt’s staff were responsible. That’s also terrible accountability on Egypt’s side of things.
Shocking
Didn’t they warn Israel about the attacks?
It’s the goddamn Middle East go figure. Always the wests fault. Why do we even care anymore?
Let these morons deal with it themselves, it’s like they can’t be honest about anything, the west just spends billions and time, why? What’s the point?
Looks like Egypt wants a war as well.
im beginning to think those guys praising hamas are bad faith actors
Finally
I was so sick of journalists reporting that “Hamas accepted a peace deal” – when they “accepted” something that was not on the table.
The correct term is “Hamas made a counter offer.”
Journalism is a dying profession.
