  4. This is unironically the biggest weakness of the far right at the European level. They may be highly effective at whipping up domestic support by beating the drums of competitive, aggressive nationalism, but that very quality makes it incredibly hard for these scumbags to work together internationally. A coordinated European far-right movement could change the face of this continent, but thankfully for the rest of us that’s an oxymoron.

  17. The RN party was founded by Jean-Marie Le Pen, but also by Pierre Bousquet, who was a literal Waffen-SS in the Charlemagne Division.

What a lot of commenter here do not necesseraly know is that a new far right party “reconquête” is born at the right of the RN in France at the last presidential election thus shifting the overton window to the right. The main proposal of “reconquête” is mass remigration. It would be hard for her to paint her French competitor in France as too extreme while at the same time siegeing with a similar party at the EU level.

  20. Orban and Le Pen are both candidates to join ECR in the next EU Parliament. However, if they do not disavow their pro-Russia anti-EU bs opinions, PiS and the Swedish Democrats will veto them joining or will threaten to leave ECR themselves. A stronger pro-EU ECR and a weaker anti-EU ID is a much better outcome for this election than the opposite.

  21. AFD and RN really switched places. RN basically started as a proper neo Nazi antisemitic party and has somewhat moderates and AFD went from a bunch of euro sceptic economists to wanting to wanting to kick out non ethnic Germans citizens.
