[Music] [Applause] [Music] hello and thanks for joining us today an 80s and 90s icon is presenting his new film at the can film festival [Music] now Richard Gear is an actor we probably will always remember best for Pretty Woman from 1990 at age 74 he’s reunited with the director of American jiggalo Paul Shrader the film that launched his career some 40 years ago the new movie O Canada is about a dying documentary filmmaker looking back at his life it’s based on the Russell Banks 2021 novel foregone and also STS Jacob Ai and Uma Furman here’s the director and Richard Gear talking about working together again and the choice of Jacob AI to play Gear’s younger self stuff happens in life and uh we’ stay friends I mean we see each other every once through a while but I mean uh I have people I wanted to work with who died so I’m the only one who’s still alive is what he’s saying nothing is inevitable Amanda was a jazz pianist she said she was the Mistress of Jerry Mulligan but he was always on the road Amy Amanda Alicia all those A’s well this was a little weird because he’s like 65 but if there was something about him that I definitely felt was in the same universe with me yeah he’s a really nice kid and he’s open and he’s he’s generous he’s got a good heart to him he works hard and I could tell from the first reading he was part of his job is watching me and looking at some of my old films and and getting a sense of how how I move and how I think and what comes across on film and he was he was serious about that so most of us know the actor Richard gear but just how excited about a sighting of Selena Gomez let’s look back at her career [Music] now off your jeans theet screaming quotations baby get work well sometimes it helps to have a special place to sit and think winter first his mother I was father oh that’s cool I’ve always wanted a guard rabbit you know scare off the mailman and it’s about um a family of kids learning Wizardry from our father and it’s a comedy series and we add a lot of family in it and it’s a fun show and I hope you know I hope everyone likes it how you choose to express yourself it’s all your own and I can tell it comes naturally It comes naturally I’m about making money it’s been a really great experience and it’s a hard transition I think but I’m having fun doing it so hopefully people will accept it feel close to you right filmed before the war in the Bell from Gaza French filmmaker Yulan zberman delves into Tel Aviv nightlife in search of a transwoman rumored to have walked all the way from the Gaza Strip on her Quest she meets others who recount running away from their families and the struggle to affirm their gender identity our team went to meet the director and some of the women who took part I read a book in a Jewish history about a rabbi from the 13th century that he wrote that he was Longing To Be A [Music] woman do I stand like a sorry baby do I kiss like a [Music] the movie is is an enigma about transexual woman who run from Gaza and looking for her life in Tel Aviv the movie is actually trying to discover the life of transexual woman um by all aspects [Music] it’s important because I need to see the word the challenge that I made and that I’m being in in this life only because who I am it’s a human story and we have to bring the human story to everybody we have to open up the hearts of of the people doesn’t really matter if you are Arab Jew Christians Drews beduin everybody have a fair chance and this is very important what we are need from the humanity it’s to be accepting to understanding to give us the chance to show the world who we are and to give us us H the chance ER to live in love and peace I’m still in trauma and I have I I need to time to understanding what happened and what it’s going to be next the seven of October changed everybody not only Israelis not only Arabs not only Palestinian everybody of the world in the world is talking about it and it mean that we have to review our life and we review our ideas to see what is the solution for life and learn to live with each other [Music] just before we go then the can film festival is famous for legendary NTI getting a ticket for one of the parties on the beach is almost exciting as a ticket for the red carpet premieres our team were at one of the famous sarees and we’ll leave you with some
