Sadly, the Fair served its purpose only for a couple of years. Immediately after Nazi occupation in 1941 it was turned into a concentration camp, under the control of the Independent State of Croatia:
After the war the new Belgrade Fair was built on the other side of the Sava. A much larger venue, its main Hall is still the world’s largest prestressed concrete dome (and it used to be the largest dome in the world):
The old former Fairground (and also former concentration camp) fell into decay and was soon absorbed by the growing New Belgrade, where it’s now a name of one of its urban neghbourhoods:
