  1. I’m always curious what happened to Pirlo. Haven’t heard anything from him since his Juventus stint. Got reminded because I was thinking of former world class players who became managers

Always thought Lampard and Pirlo would do well.

Edit: just found out Pirlo is managing Sampdoria in B league

  2. I’ll take kompany. He might be next year’s Xabi, who knows. He’s played good attacking football, failed this season with a thin, weak squad.

  3. I don’t know why – it doesn’t make sense – but I feel that Kompany would be better than Pochettino.

  4. Leverkusen having to play 2 finals in the span of 3 days is rough – hope they can pull through and win both. We need in-form and hyped-up Wirtz + Andrich for the EUROs

  5. > Vincent Kompany remains in contact with Bayern and is keen on this chance. He’s waiting for Bayern to decide for their favourite option on the list. Kompany has still not received any call from Chelsea despite links with the job [@FabrizioRomano]

Please don’t fuck this one up

  6. how can a guy whos been managing for 4 years be our top priority man wtf teh

  7. >Bayern and Manchester United sent scouts to watch IFK Göteborg’s Malick Junior Yalcouyé (18/ central midfielder) live in action against Mjällby yesterday. The Swedish club expects a bidding war for the player this summer and hopes to get 100 million SEK (~ €8.6m). There’s also concrete interest from Ajax and PSV in the player

    >”If we receive an offer that we cannot refuse, then we will sell”, said IFK technical director Ola Larsson

    [@Expressen]

  8. Thing that worries me about Kompany, isnt that he got relegated, but he doesnt appear to have tried to adapt his tactics and Burnley only spent 1 year in the Championship, not like they were some perennial 2nd league club

  9. Forget managers and names — what is your preferred playing *style*? It could be your preferred style for Bayern or in football aesthetic you prefer in general. Please be as specific or detailed as you want.

Zonal or man-marking? Direct/quick transitions or set build-up plays? High-line pressing or mid-blocks? Two or three man midfields? One or two central strikers? Two or three man CB lines? Do you like to see players in free-roles? Many switches and diagonals or triangles and quick passes? Defend with ball possession or defend with off-the-ball structure? Fixed playing style or tactical/reactive to situation? Philosophy or pragmatic? And any other axis or variation you can think of.

  10. I catch myself weirdly satisfied if it is going to be Kompany, even if he hasn’t managed a top team yet.

He is a very talented coach and gets praised by every club he was involved with. Even Burnley is still very positive to talk about him, even though he got relegated with them.

I am more worried about our part and not about the coach. I struggle to see us give him the developing freedom he does deserve and need to achieve something with us. He also comes at a time when Leverkusen became an incredible team, and staying ahead of them in the Buli is already going to be very difficult.

I just hope our “great” board is going to be patient, which I honestly don’t think will happen

  11. I have a feeling Kompany is the backup for Poch/Ten Hag

  12. Won’t lie I expected there to be more noise regarding Poch to Bayern. Regardless if it would be true or not it seemed like pretty low hanging fruit for journalists to report about. It feels oddly quiet

  13. > Bayern’s full focus is now on Vincent Kompany. Deal is not done yet, no advanced negotiations yet – but ‘good and positive’ talks are ongoing. The Belgian is ready for this challenge

    > The club has asked for information about Mauricio Pochettino in the past few days, but as of now there’s been no concrete contact. The focus is on Kompany at the moment

    > [@Plettigoal, @SkySportDE]

  14. Kompany project with Eberl and Freund as support sounds good, but I do hope they get the freedom they need to build this project

  15. It’s cool and all that Eberl and Freund want Kompany but as we know all too well by now, this doesn’t mean shit

  16. Please get Kompany mostly done before the Man Utd City match takes place. Don’t want the board to get any funny ideas.

  17. Honestly hope we get Kompany cause if Uli undermines Eberl’s and Freund’s decisions again, they should leave

  18. Maatsen was the starting LB in Kompany’s championship run btw.

  19. With Kompany its up to Bayern to decide if they want him or not because Kompany will never say no to this opportunity

  20. Honestly looking forward to seeing Kompany, we already had a trophyless season and finished at 3rd, we will finish in the top 4 anyway just because of the sheer quality of our squad, so it can only get better than this

  21. Assuming Kompany comes over, who might he target to implement his football system?

Any Burnley players of that calibre?

  22. Flick apparently met with Barca representatives in London. Will be very interesting how he does for them.

  23. If the club ‘asked after’ Pochettino then it is unlikely any deal with Kompany is close. I think there are other names and we’re still not there.

  24. My ideal line-up for next season

    4-3-3

    Gk: Manu

Rb: Kimmich, Cb: Kim-De ligt LB: theo

Lm: Pavlovic CDM: Zubu RM: Wirtz

Lw: Jamal Musiala CF : Kane RW : Xavi Simmons

  25. It’s kinda frightening to see how everyone is hyping up Kompany now and giving downvotes to anyone who is skeptical of this choice.

It’s an underwhelming choice and you need to face the reality of that. I hope he can last the whole season.

  26. > Bayern will receive another €1.25m as part of the Lewandowski deal after he reached 25 goals for Barcelona this season. Two years ago, it was agreed Bayern would get €1.25m for every season with 25+ goals for Lewandowski. He’s managed that for the two years in a row now. The agreement is still due for the next two years, which would take the whole package (fixed fee + add-ons) to €50m [@SPORTBILD]

His salary also increases every year, right? So basically Lewy’s the personification of Barca’s financial woes.

  27. What do you think has gone wrong with Leroy Sane at Bayern Munich? 3 years with the club and he is yet to produce a big season
