  1. Unemployment rate is deceptive. Uber and Lyft side hustles skew the numbers for full time employment.

Inflation has been excessive since COVID, while wages have been stagnant for the majority…unless you are a fast food worker in California!

Housing is yet another sore spot. A combination of investor greed (institutional and independent) home builders keeping supplies low or just doing “Build to Rent” and in some cases zoning in communities to keep high density housing out of their communities.

This discouragement is always translated by the common human into “recession”. Biden administration attempting to redefine a recession also does not help.

Let’s just be real; people are fucking discouraged! It’s harder for people to be able to move forward financially, we are pushing this trade war with China that will ultimately send inflation higher and increased national debt is going to be unsustainable in the future. Call it what you want; recession, inflation, depression…whatever! The situation is shit for the majority because of greed and stupidity with no end or solution in sight!

  2. The worse part is a lot of people also believe Trump will fix these problems.

  3. 49 percent responded and said that the s & p is down this year. We can sit here and say that the stock market is not the economy. Ok…but that does not explain why Americans cannot even answer a basic question correctly. It is really easy to look up Americans. It is either up or it is not. Spare me the inflation bullshit. It has nothing to do with being unable to answer a question correctly. Americans are absolute morons.

  4. I was just told yesterday by somebody in the sub that we are in a recession and pointed  to the last GDP print being only 1.6% as his proof of us being in a recession. If the people who have the want to discuss economics, can’t even bother to learn the basic principles of economics it’s not surprising that the average person has absolutely no clue on anything about the economy.

  5. Most Americans cannot define a recession. Most Americans are idiots. Think of the average person on the US then imagine 150M people dinner than that person

  6. These articles are such fucking propaganda.

For the 90% in the USA, things aren’t going great. Food is stupid expensive, gas is on the rise and the American Dream of owning a home is unattainable to most. The DOW hitting $40K means nothing…

  7. Yeah well they only believe what their news source tells them and do not bother to actually understand what happens in a real recession.

  8. All authority in this totally corrupt system is sus af. The gaslighting is the only evidence I need to know this.

  9. Fun fact 80% of people think their lives are great.

Tiktok is pushing things are bad and normal media has a negativity biases.

  10. It doesn’t help that the right wing media is blaming Biden while at the same time telling people to stop being lazy, lower taxes on the rich so they can hire more, and min wage is not the problem.

  11. Conservatives do a good job complaining that the media is liberal. Yet Right leaning FoxNews is number one in cable news by a long shot. Total viewers of right wing cable news (FoxNews, OAN, and Newsmax) far exceed that of CNN and MSNBC. In podcasting Right leaning shows like Steve Brandon’s War room, Louder with Crowder, Candace Owens, etc are amongst top political podcasts.

Conservatives in the media are calling the economy terrible. It is a constant drum beat the majority of people hear. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that the majority think it must be true..

  12. The Biden Admin opened this can of worms in 2022 when they declared that 2 straight quarters of GDP shrinkage is not a recession. So now that recession is defined based on feelings rather than facts, they reap what they sow.

  13. Heard on NPR yesterday that the FED has a report out about their own surveying of the US. Something like 3/4 of the country say they have at least “enough” income to pay for what they need. I did a quick search for it just now but have not been able to locate it yet.

  14. The country has been in and out of a recession. Biden just rewrote the definition of what a recession has been since the beginning of time. His idiot followers just bent over and said thank you daddy. Then repeated this nonsense.
Now morons wrote articles like this. Then morons post articles like this. Describing how the American public is just to dumb to understand.
    Classic liberal logic.

  15. A majority of Americans have been lied to by Fox News and believe Fox News because they are stupid.

  16. If Trump was president right now, they’d be celebrating this exact same economy. Literally throwing parades over it.

    Propaganda works.

  17. In my opinion, we are definitely in a recession, I don’t need to know anything about economics to know that. Anyone that says otherwise is engaging or supporting in a great deal of Fuckery to keep morale high. We live in a confidence game and it’s not surprising the people at the top are doing whatever they can to maintain confidence, prevent panic and influence the upcoming election. I have a good job, have to cut way back on my spending and have completely given up on homeownership or having a family over the past few years. I can’t imagine how people with average jobs are surviving, those who are trying to raise even a small family on minimum wage most certainly think that we’re in a recession and their suffering likely aligns with the truth.

Lets politicize this and neglect the reality though.

  18. Only real reason we aren’t all screwed right now is because they printed trillions to bolster shit.
