Expect no Grenfell Tower charges until end of 2026, ten years after the fire, police say

  1. F*ck me that’s poor. The Stage 2 report is due to be released before this year’s anniversary, and it was widely reportedly that waiting for this that was what has been holding up the Met from charging people. They have had a dedicated team gathering evidence alongside the inquiry’s work for years – pretty much in the year since the fire. They’re not allowed to use evidence given during the course of the inquiry in their charges. So the fact evidence and charges won’t be passed to the CPS until 2026 is pretty disgraceful. I understand the CPS then have their own timescales and there will be a lot to process so a decision won’t be made on the charges until the end of 2026. But the Met have no excuse. The people who produced fraudulent fire testing results, the people at the BRE and other bodies who colluded with manufactures rather than hold them to account, the KCTMO and councillors who utterly failed in their duty of care, the people who destroyed evidence after the event. They’ve had ten years free when they should have been behind bars – I hope the 10 years are accounted for in sentencing (they won’t be).

  2. Boeing whistleblowers falling out of windows, Julian Assange imprisoned for unconvering war crimes, no bid NHS and military contracts going to corrupt buddies and oligarchs collecting profits and escaping justice even when they get people killed….

It would be real nice if we could stop turning into Russia.

  3. I found out the building I paid huge amount of rent to live in had the exact same kind of cladding as Grenfell.
