Ukraine needs more soldiers even if some of them are convicts.
Isn’t it the same as to when Wagner enlisted prisoners during the start of the war?
A war between convicts.
Oh this is like the plot to Suicide Squad, the James Gunn version though.
So long as they aren’t allowing violent offenders like murderers, rapists, arsonists, pedophiles, etc, a chance to enlist, I don’t see a problem if the prisoners are voluntarily enlisting.
Honestly, braver than the thousands fleeing service.
Many prisoners when given the chance to prove themselves do really well. In new york state some of the prisons have inmates who help fight forest fires. They are dedicated and hard working. They take a lot of pride in being looked at in a favorable light. Many have been told they were worthless their whole lives
Is it good or bad ? I’m not sure.🤔
Funny fact: convicts are being mobilized voluntarily, while for regular males mobilization is forced.
I like how when Russia did this people were shaming them but when Ukraine does it everybody talks about redemption etc.
I didn’t realize Ukraine had its own “Pravda”.
I’m all in favour of it, if done correctly.
Not everyone in prison is a bad person, they just did something illegal. Depending on what that they did really matters.
Not only this, these convicts are volunteering to DEFEND their homeland. That might be doing manual labour on the back lines, it might be digging trenches or driving supply trucks. Some of them might get trained on drones, or help the war effort in any way possible.
Some reasons to end up in prison are for petty crimes. No excuses for what they’ve done, but it doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of doing good. Some of these people (especially if they have a strict criteria), have something to fight for and it’s more than simply freedom from a jail cell. Freedom for their country, to not be ruled and occupied for a foreign invader. To fight/help for their families and friends, a life to get back to.
I know the average person in prison would rather get a military sentence in America anyway.
Didn’t the Russians try this in ukraine, I think are still doing it
send The Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs to have a conversation with Vladimir.
I’ve always wondered if the Dnipropetrovsk maniacs are still in prison what with the war going on. Surely they wouldn’t be allowed to sign up for this.
Oh but when russia does it, it’s a problem? 🤦🏻♂️
I remember when they were making fun of Russia for this
Wouldnt be surprised if they did some cruel shit.
Wasnt it long ago that russia also used convicts, and everybody thrashed on russia for it. But now that ukraine is doing it, it is ok? What is the main difference here?
Russia did it last year = bad.
Ukraine does it this year = good.
Weren’t people going batshit crazy over Russia doing the same thing? Can someone who’s more versed in the geopolitical landscape regarding this conflict explain why it’s a “good” thing for Ukraine to be doing this ?
The Russians have been doing it
IMO I think they would do great in logistics and support roles which can still be dangerous.
A brigade’s worth of soldiers, it’s nothing to scoff at.
Unless your sentence is really small, you’d be better off fighting a war IMO.
This is like one prisons worth of inmates in the states.
Devil’s advocate here,
It didn’t really work out for the Russians right? Many of them eventually returned to their communities and wrecked havoc.
Why won’t the Ukrainian prisoners do the same? Do they get their entire sentence reduced/waived? How do you explain that to their victims/families?
Or are we arguing Ukrainian criminals are somehow more ethical or more moral than Russian criminals?
Weren’t they laughing at russians when they did the same thing at the beginning of the war ? Lmao
