Swedish commander: Putin aims to control Baltic Sea, has his eye on Gotland Island

3. Pfft. Russians won’t have a navy in the Western hemisphere the moment they blink.

4. There’s also [Åland Island](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Åland) in Finland. It is demilitarised area by international law, but everybody knows that would not be respected in times of war, due to its strategic location. There has been talks in Finland of militarising the island, but the local population opposes it. When asked what should be done if the island was invaded in wartime, local politician commented “well, of course Finnish military should liberate us in that case”. It would be a lot easier to make sure the island was not invaded in the first place.

   There is a struggle for the initiative when it comes to messaging and driving escalation is in Russia’s interest.

13. Russian Baltic fleet would not survive long enough to get to the Gotland Island and back. In the case of war with NATO, it would be annihilated in matter of days.

14. At this point I’m wondering if Russia even has functional ships, even the ones they claim as fine aren’t due to rampant corruption
