Three countries want to recognize a Palestinian state right in the middle of a war that was started by Hamas. That’s absolutely crazy to any sane person.
I saw a good comment in another subreddit that I think should also be posted here. In the last 24 hours, the following has happened:
– Smotrich freezes all the tax money payable the Palestinian Authority from Palestinian imports+exports, intending to cause its collapse and calls for settlements in Area A area such as Jenin. Even though the PA has literally killed and arrested hundreds of PIJ+Hamas terrorists over the past several months in the West Bank and has allowed the IDF to conduct raids against terrorists in Area B+Area A areas
– Gallant allows Israeli settlers to go to Northern West Bank for the first time since Sharon’s 2005 disengagement.
– Ben Gvir visited the Temple Mount for the first time since 10/7.
– Smotrich saying that Israel will establish a new settlement for every country that unilaterally recognizes Palestine as a state
– Amsalem calls for the continuation of the “reform” [judicial coup d’etat] and says that the ombudsman is the most dangerous person for democracy.
– US intelligence says only 30-35% of Hamas pre-10/7 terrorists have been killed (contradicting Bibi’s claims of over half being killed to Dr. Phil’s podcast recently…not to mention Bibi said Israel was near “total victory” nearly four months ago and Gallant said over Hamas is captured+killed a few months ago as well) and says atleast 65% of Hamas’s tunnels are in tact. US intelligence says Hamas has been able to recruit thousands of new terrorists during this war so it’s obviously lower than 30-35%.

That’s ok Ireland, Norway and Spain will transfer money to the PA. That’s what it means to put your money where your mouth is.

For all those womdering the recognition of Palestinian territory without an agreement from Israel is a violation of the 1995 israel Palestine intermediate agreement.
This agreement is the basis for all Israel’s interactions with the PA including the “much needed funds”.
Let’s have the Americans transfer money to the Taliban while we’re at it.
Kill someone’s loved ones and then demand them to feed your loved ones and say where’s the money you owe me.
Norway, Spain, and Ireland has told the world that terrorism works.
I’m uneducated can someone inform me of why this is beneficial to those countries? Or if it is beneficial at all
Seems like this policy is, at best, a non sequitur. At worst it’s collective punishment for diplomatic decisions made by separate, independent, third party countries.
These kind of tactics may play well domestically but, internationally, it would seem they would only reinforce beliefs that the Palestinians in the West Bank are being held in an untenable position.
The Palestinians are literally biting the hand that feeds them. Why should that hand continue to do so?
The PA pays a “Martyr fund” / pension to the families of terrorists who kill Israeli civilians. They shouldn’t be getting any money at all in my opinion.
So the leaders of that Palestinian State, who happen to be Hamas, kill 1300 People and get rewarded.

Dumb question. Why is Israel collecting PA taxes in the first place? Why isn’t the PA doing this themselves?
That Spain is doing this while still not recognizing Catalonian independence has to be a new height of hypocrisy.
I mean if Palestine is its own state, as suggested by Ireland etc, then why would Israel need to give them funds?
Good. IS shouldn’t pay anything to the people directly offering funds for killing IS citizens.

There’s an agreement. Palestinians break the agreement. Israel acts according to the agreed actions upon a break in the agreement. Palestinian “supporters” cry why would Israel do this. Tale as old as time.

This is extremely messed up.
Imagine if Russia collected 70% to 75% of all U.S. taxes. Then when Russia becomes upset with us they withhold our own tax dollars from us.
Israel is upset that 3 nations now recognize Palestine as a state. Their response is to collectively punish Palestinians again by withholding their own tax funds from them.
Some aid going to the starving population is better than none. Though, I doubt they can effectively screen the people doing the theft as belonging to hamas or not. I’m sure there are plenty of desperate, starving Palestinians to steal aid. Netanyahu and his government are war criminals for blocking food aid, amongst other atrocities.
More collective punishment- doesn’t surprise me coming from this Israeli government.
