Johnson could become ‘existential threat to future of Conservative Party’

  1. I expect the opposition to do all they can to keep him as pm for as long as possible. I mean he has aged visibly in the past few weeks.

  2. Cameron should have been an existential threat, but the class system in this country is so acute that people just pretend he never existed.

Like there was a recent scandal with him implicated in literal Berlusconi and Trump degrees of corruption. Nobody in England seems to care. The news cycle has moved on. It’s not the sort of thing you’re supposed to mention in “polite company”.

The reason being that he was an arch-posho, and we are a country of the most pathetic, craven cap-doffers.

  3. This is why I’m genuinely surprised at Tory MPs who got scared after Wakefield’s defection and felt the need to unite – you’re leaving Johnson in office still, and all because of somebody crossing the floor?

I’ll take it tho. The longer he stays the more damage to the Tory brand.

  4. An existential threat to the Tory Party has existed since 1989. labour and the Liberal Democrats could have immanentised that threat into reality in 2017. Instead they chose to do silly things. The Tories are going to survive because *they chose to do silly things*. They could have held their noses and watched the Tories crash, burn, and piss petrol on themselves but, instead, chose the path of keeping the Tories alive.

  5. For years to come too. He saw the last of the moderates leave or be forced out and now only those as corrupt as he is or those with far right wing views remain. As times get tougher for the average person, the lack of moderates to try for party leader is going to put the average voter off.

  6. There is a lot needs to change in UK politics. That is not going to happen with people pocketing from powerful positions. The Tories will be forever linked with this sort of dishonesty.

  7. End of the Conservative party and ruination of the current cohort of cunts is the only silver lining I can see of the incumbent administration.

  8. They said Trump was a threat to the Republicans in the USA, shit don’t stick to any of them, and they can crawl through a shit filled sewer and cone out the other end smelling of roses.

  9. The conservative party as a whole has been an existential threat to the general population and the union.
Such a brutalist party shouldn’t have to exist.

  10. “And in their desperation, they turned to a man they didn’t fully understand.”

Good. Fuck the lot of them. A pox on this country for far too long. Now we need voting reform and shut these fuckers out forever.

  11. I want him to stay on until the next election. Let them utterly ruin themselves so the other parties can pick the corpse clean.

  12. I can’t wait for Rees-Migg and Nadine Dorries to turn up either side of a clearly dead Boris, insisting he’s fine and still getting Brexit done.

Well, yes. That’s my hope too.

I just hope that he can hang on long enough to take all the rotten, thieving, evil bastards down with him.

  14. I wish. In practice they’ll chuck him and get behind another arsehole and they’ll carry on like the issues aren’t endemic to the party
