This policy is directly responsible for the calamity occurring in the Kharkiv direction. The innocent lives lost in Vovchansk could have been completely avoided. But Russia knows that Ukraines arms are tied and is abusing that restriction with impunity. It’s not even about ATACMS or HIMARS or Stormshadow etc….(Although that would be great) They need the ability to fire the humble 155mm shell across the border at these Russian logistics/infantry concentrations and firing positions.
It was _never_ a good policy. It absolutely needs to go if Ukraine are to achieve anything resembling a win. I’d bet my life that Russias reaction will be the same as always. Threaten nukes -> Then do nothing.
Enough of this horseshit and let’s save Ukrainian lives! Fukk these pieces of shit and this cesspool they call russia!
Some friend the US is to tie Ukraine’s hands behind it’s back when they are fighting for it’s very existence against what the US considers a near peer adversary. The choice is obvious, untie Ukraine’s hands.

This reminds me of the US administration dragging their feet on tanks until Germany stepped up to send the Leopards. I think France and Germany have said it’s ok to for their weapons to be used against military targets in Russia, so I expect the US to follow soon.
As for why the US would drag their feet, it may be to let Europeans lead the way in confronting Russia. After all, European NATO countries are a lot closer to the Russian threat, so they should take the initiative. That makes it harder for Russian propaganda to paint the US as aggressive.

The US has the largest and most sophisticated intelligence apparatus on the planet, but Blinken had to *actually go* to Ukraine to understand why it would be beneficial to allow American weapons to strike Russians right in their safe space before they entered Ukraine

As American who lived through the Cold war, I don’t see the point of this at all. The only way, and the quickest way for Ukraine to rid themselves of the Russia virus is to be able to strike Russia in any way they see fit, they’ve proven that they are interested only in striking targets that help their cause, not just terrorizing civilians like Russia does.
I am also ashamed of all the knuckle dragging, can kicking, excuse making that allowed Russia to be able to dig in for months and even go on the offensive lately.
If we had given what was needed when it was needed, this war would be mostly over by now.
Why is this still up to debate?
