French police hunted Tuesday for a group of gunmen who killed two prison officers in an attack on a highway toll booth that freed a convict linked to gangland drug murders.

President Emmanuel Macron vowed that everything would be done to find those behind the attack, with the inmate also still at large, as well as those who helped him escape.

Two prison guards were killed in the attack and three others were wounded. Another was fighting for his life in hospital and two others were in critical condition.

The inmate was being transported back to his prison in the town of Evreux after being questioned by a judge in the regional center of Rouen in Normandy. The prosecutor said the prison van was rammed head-on by a stolen Peugeot as it passed through the toll booth. But the prison van was also followed by an Audi, from which gunmen emerged and fired at both vehicles in the prison convoy.

  1. Europe really needs to start taking its security more seriously. If they aren’t careful, they will find they no longer have control of their country like in Latin America or Africa.

  2. Drug smuggling in Europe is really getting to be a problem. The gangs are starting to act like Latin American cartels.

  3. Who is Mohamed Amra? He is a brave descendant of the Gauls, he is descended from Vercingetorix, can't you see?

  4. Why were these vehicles not armoured?? I can’t believe the stupidity of the people that are running our countries. I’m sure President Macron has an armoured vehicle!! Is there no European country that is run by people with brains!!! My sympathies go to the loved ones of the deceased, god bless🙏🏻

  5. France and Algeria are like peanut butter jam. Same place that gave you Zidane and Benzema. You can't blame this on immigration

  6. Mohamed don't sound very European.
Best the government can offer at the moment will be flying of rainbow flags while allowing more in unchecked.

  7. Something like this could never happen in the usa. This is the difference between the usa and the rest of the world. The criminals understand in the usa if they even try to attempt something like this and got away with it the entire criminal underworld will have the full weight of the usa government destroying there operation until all qho were involved are handed over to the authorities 💯💯💯💯💯

  8. They keep saying a car. Does no one noticed the second vehicle, ambush from the rear. It was also the escape vehicle

  9. Criminals are now laughing at the incompetence of the French and their police force. They need to show that they have what it takes to keep law and order in the face of the rampant criminal activities in France.

  10. They will be arrested, they will be tried, they will be convicted and punished according to the crime they committed, and then they will escape from a police van while being transported.

  11. And you wonder why these criminals have weapons when the loss restrict him from doing it not the first time that criminals have guns in France this makes you question who is really under control
