Damn, have our water companies really fucked up that bad? Or are we expecting imminent war with Russia/China?
I’ve got plenty of beer supplies for july, when we kick the tories out!
How many days worth of water does my toilet cistern hold?
Fear porn, yet again. I bet people felt stupid when they realised they couldn’t eat a year’s supply of toilet rolls, during Covid.
I’d go down the Winchester and wait for it all to blow over
>People should, it suggests, also store non-perishable food that “doesn’t need cooking” such as tinned meat, vegetables and fruit, as well as baby supplies and pet food if needed.
>The website adds that a tin opener should be in the package
Lol
almost everybody under 30 is in a house share here in the SE, Ive had 9 people in one house before. where would it even go?
I’m a single man, so this could be difficult, but based on the label on a Morrisons trifle, my family is four people.
This is essentially what I did at the start of covid (except for the water!.. who has space for 3 days of water? And for me, that’s essentially an entire suitcase of water).
I do fancy a wind up torch and radio though. All it takes is a powercut and I feel a bit remote. Found this – [https://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Emergency-Survival-Flashlight-Headphone-White/dp/B0B77CJGHF](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Emergency-Survival-Flashlight-Headphone-White/dp/B0B77CJGHF)
It’ll also charge your phone, so you can play games during the apocalypse.
I know people are up in arms about this, but it’s sensible. We grew up out in the middle of nowhere, so it wasn’t unusual for electricity to go out for days at a time or for roads to be flooded or snowed under, and travel dangerous. I don’t think it’s stupid to have a few days of essentials and some candles just in case. It’s like having a spare tyre…you don’t need it, until you do
At least my local shop sells water in tins, so I best get myself down there.
What do we expect to solve in 3 days that we can’t solve in 2?
This is how I grew up – 70s, rural, no car half the week. We stockpiled all winter in case snow cut us off. Covid was pretty trivial from that perspective though by Easter 2020 I was craving salad. (Turned down an Easter egg in favour of what is now known as the Blessed Easter Cucumber.)
Evian and Fray Bentos sales have been down so they are lobbying the Tories to get everyone to bulk buy all of them to make this year’s dividend
Great. So Rishi thinks shit is about to hit the fan and doesn’t want to be PM during that time.
3 days would have the country in arms, now imagine 3 weeks…
In Germany the government advises that you have two weeks worth of food and water.
Well I don’t have that. But it seems sensible. 3 days isn’t that much.
Instead of panicking people about what processed shit they should buy for their cupboards, why don’t we do a nationwide grow campaign where the government sends everyone a seed pack to show them how easy it is to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, garlic ect in our country. There’s also plenty of things that can be grown in a windowsill or a flat balcony.
In still eating pasta sauce that I made last year from completely home grown ingredients
One decent summer where a huge chunk of the country gets involved I think it would be a huge success
Instructions unclear, I’ve ordered 4000 rolls of toilet paper
It’s not wrong, but I can’t help but think the timing just after Sunak and his security related speeches and the GE announcement are linked to try and drive a “labour won’t protect you stay with what you know” vote
Another top tip is to buy sparkling water, most people refuse to drink it so increases your survival odds.
Got a 180L aquarium, does that count as 3 days of water? Although ideally would like to at least leave the last 20L or so for the axolotls we can surely share the rest.
Now kinda wonder how drinkable aquarium water is, and if you boil it first. Same with water butts.
I’m guessing the shelves with canned food and water will be empty in the next days/weeks 🤦
Toilet paper panic here we go again
I know you want to mark the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, but isn’t rationing going a bit over board.
I’ve got a couple of tins of butter beans, and some water chestnuts could do some type of stir fry I suppose
This is electioneering. Sunak wants to make people scared so he can attack Labour on being bad at security / war etc.
Why would they announce this? It’s almost as if we will be at war with Russia in a few months or something. That would be crazy
I’m tempted to view this as a Tory party campaign. Their stock trade is playing to fearful conservatives.
