  1. The far-right problem is that you can’t have an alliance with other far-right parties when your entire goal is hating “the others”. I think they tried something back in the day when first Romania was accepted in EU and we had a far-right party there. It lasted until that Mussolini woman from Italy started talking shit about Romanians in Italy. Obviously our fascists weren’t very happy about it and withdrew from her group which remaining without the necessary members in the EU parliament had to dissolve

  2. 16% of Germans (or 35+% of east Germans…) vote for a party that is too far right for even the far right group of the EU. The only reason Germany isnt entirely fucked by the aging demographics like Japan is immigration, yet a whole lot of us seem to think its the root of all evil and a good reason to vote for literal nazis…

  3. Wait a minute. Am I reading this right:
A far-right party has expelled *another* far-right party from the European Parliament?

I mean good for Germany, but.. never expected to hear something like this. It’s almost like the German National People’s Party (a far right political party in the 1920-30s) had expelled the Nazi (NSDAP) party…

  4. Lmfao, the Nazis outnazied themselves and are now alone.

    Fucking assholes.

  5. It doesn’t matter how many scandals the far-right will go through, or how many times we are reminded that they are nazi apologists. People will still vote them. Trump literally said he could shoot a man on the street and still be voted, and the messed up thing is that he’s probably right.

  6. The AfD could kill 6 million Jews and someone on r/europe would still claim that it’s just common german citizens being upset because the Left doesn’t listen to their concerns, and trying to stop them is undemocratic.

  7. >The apparent final straw was Krah’s comments published in Italy over the weekend about German soldiers in World War II. Asked by la Repubblica whether all members of Heinrich Himmler’s SS, which played a pivotal role in carrying out the mass exterminations of the Holocaust, were automatically criminals, Krah said he did not believe so.

That probably does not even make the top 10 of the most nazi things they Afd has done in the last month, didn’t one of their guys say they’ll send the opposition to Buchenwald or something like that?

  8. Maybe they can join the _other_ far righ EU-parliament group (ECR), there is perhaps still a place for them between Vox and the Brothers of Italy.

Especially the Mussolini-party should be delighted about AFDs open flirting with fascism.

  9. isnt this what they do every couple of years? have a huge infight and after that the party collapses ?

  10. Yes, yes…. I think that after the election the ID, and ECR try to involve the party for a formation of a right wing commission

  12. But this subreddit told me the far right would dominate the EU elections this year.
