22 May: NOT SO FAST! Ukrainian Forces STOP & COUNTERATTACK RUSSIANS in Urozhaine | War in Ukraine

today there is a lot of news from the viika noo Silka Direction here after months of relative inactivity Russian forces have drastically increased the intensity of their offensive operations targeting The Villages of stayers and uran these Villages located south of Vela noos Silka hold tactical and symbolic significance as these are the last settlements that Ukrainian forces recaptured during their counter offensive in the summer of 2023 the low intensity of the fighting in previous months was based on the fact that both sides needed to advance a significant number of kilometers across Open Fields in order to get close to the first defensive line making this attacks highly dangerous however according to analysts in the face of this apparent inactivity Ukrainian forces may have moved some of their personnel to other hotter spots on the front line This relocation added to the lack of material suffered by Ukrainian forces in the past months may have given the Russians an opportunity to make sudden advances to the borders of staya and uros the primary objective for Russian forces in this area is V noos Sila this settlement serves as a vital stronghold surrounded from all sides by Rivers as well as a logistic node supplying all Southern settlements capturing V noo Silka would enable Russian forces to inflict significant damage to Ukrainian Logistics in the whole area and overcome a major Fortress along the southern line in addition Russian forces aimed to potentially link up with their operations in the southeastern donet region which aimed to encircle Vadar following their repeated failures in frontal assaults the latest reports indicate Russian forces have escalated their use of loitering munition targeting deep Ukrainian positions away from the immediate front line geolocated footage captured a laned strike carried out against Ukrainian artillery system systems stationed near Vela noila in addition Russian forces recently reported the destruction of a critical bridge over MRA yal River in velika noos Silka aiming to disrupt Ukrainian Logistics operations between the main town and the southern settlements the footage shows the impact of a k h38 ml a to ground missile causing the partial destruction of the bridge these two attacks indicate that Russian forces have taken advantage of the lack of air defense systems in recent weeks to increase their depth attacks an issue that the ukrainians are already trying to solve with the ongoing arrival of material from the American Aid package in recent weeks Russian forces have made progress west of the Hill as the hill is right above the V Village losing it would mean direct access to the settlement a recent Southern Russian attack pushed Ukrainian defenses out from the hill and for this reason the latest reports indicate that heavy fighting is already inside stor although Ukrainian forces offer strong resistance in the area south of urain heavy clashes have been reported which started with extensive Russian aerial bombardments over the settlement aimed to set the conditions for the subsequent mechanized and infantry attacks Russian forces gained some marginal advances and reached the southern houses of the settlement despite their efforts these advances have failed to achieve a decisive breakthrough due to strong resistance the Russian strategy has alternate probe attacks further east seeking new vectors in an attempt to outmaneuver Ukrainian defenses geolocated images reveal successful Ukrainian defensive operations in uran including the use of fpv drones and artillery strikes to hold Russian medium-sized attack notably Ukrainian forces managed to repel a Russian Advance involving a tank and two armored infantry vehicles with a single Ukrainian tank holding its ground effectively the footage shows how the Ukrainian tank makes a direct hit on the Russian tank and moments later the two armored infantry Vehicles begin a rushed Retreat additional geolocated footage shows Ukrainian infantry launching several successful counterattacks targeting Russian positions in hangers in in the aftermath of this Counterattack ukrainians regained much of the ground and captured several Russian prisoners these operations highlight the ongoing efforts of Ukrainian forces to disrupt and destabilize Russian advances maintaining pressure and an active defense when possible military analysts assessed this recent Russian offensive activity in this area as part of a broader strategy to stretch the Ukrainian front line through diversionary attacks these multiple probe attacks are a Prelude to summer offensive efforts and aim at catching Ukrainian Defenders off guard and forcing them to reallocate their limited personnel and resources the Russians continue to pursue a breakthrough that would compel Ukrainian forces to adjust their defensive resources balance however the lack of strategic objective in this direction highlights that Russian forces will hardly be able to commit a comparable concentration of forces to that of points on the front line with clear strategic and political objectives which makes possible Russian advances in this direction likely to be contested and overturned in the short term by Ukrainian forces overall the situation in the area south of Thea NOA Silka remains highly Dynamic and contested Russian forces have increased the intensity of their attacks making marginal advances but failing to achieve a decisive breakthrough Ukrainian Defenders continue to employ effective countermeasures leveraging artillery fpv drones minefields and tactical Maneuvers to maintain their positions the resilience and adaptability of Ukrainian forces in this region have been crucial in preventing a fullscale Russian breakthrough on I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video, I will tell you what happened on the eight-hundred-nineteenth day of the war.

Day 819: May 22

Today, there is a lot of news from the Velyka Novosilka direction.

Here, after months of relative inactivity, Russian forces have drastically increased the intensity of their offensive operations targeting the villages of Staromaiorske and Urozhaine. These villages, located south of Velyka Novosilka, hold tactical and symbolic significance, as these are the last settlements that Ukrainian forces recaptured during their counteroffensive in the summer of 2023.

The low intensity of the fighting in previous months was based on the fact that both sides needed to advance a significant number of kilometers across open fields in order to get close to the first defensive line, making these attacks highly dangerous. However, according to analysts, in the face of this apparent inactivity, Ukrainian forces may have moved some of their personnel to other hotter spots on the front line. This relocation, added to the lack of material suffered by Ukrainian forces in the past months, may have given the Russians an opportunity to make sudden advances to the borders of Staromaiorske and Urozhaine.

The primary objective for Russian forces in this area is Velyka Novosilka. This settlement serves as a vital stronghold surrounded from all sides by rivers, as well as a logistic node, supplying all southern settlements. Capturing Velyka Novosilka would enable Russian forces to inflict significant damage to Ukrainian logistics in the whole area, and overcome a major fortress along the southern line. In addition, Russian forces aim to potentially link up with their operations in the southeastern Donetsk region, which aim to encircle Vuhledar following their repeated failures in frontal assaults.

The latest reports indicate Russian forces have escalated their use of loitering munition, targeting deep Ukrainian positions away from the immediate front line. Geolocated footage captured a Lancet strike carried out against Ukrainian artillery systems stationed near Velyka Novosilka. In addition, Russian forces recently reported the destruction of a critical bridge over Mokri Yaly River in Velyka Novosilka, aiming to disrupt Ukrainian logistics operations between the main town and the southern settlements. The footage shows the impact of a Kh-38ML air-to-ground missile, causing the partial destruction of the bridge. These two attacks indicate that Russian forces have taken advantage of the lack of air defense systems in recent weeks to increase their depth attacks, an issue that the Ukrainians are already trying to solve with the ongoing arrival of material from the American aid package.

In recent weeks, Russian forces have made progress west of Staromaiorske, advancing by around one and a half kilometers. If we look at the topographic map, we can see that this area is characterized by its relatively higher altitude. The main fight was actually for the control of the hill: as the hill is right above the village, losing it would mean direct access to the settlement. A recent sudden Russian attack pushed Ukranian defenses out from the hill, and for this reason, the latest reports indicate that heavy fighting is already inside Staromaiorske, although Ukrainian forces offer strong resistance.

In the area south of Urozhaine, heavy clashes have been reported, which started with extensive Russian aerial bombardments over the settlement aimed to set the conditions for the subsequent mechanized and infantry attacks. Russian forces gained some marginal advances and reached the southern houses of the settlement. Despite their efforts, these advances have failed to achieve a decisive breakthrough. Due to strong resistance, the Russian strategy has alternate probe attacks further east, seeking new vectors in an attempt to outmaneuver Ukrainian defenses.

Geolocated images reveal successful Ukrainian defensive operations in Urozhaine, including the use of FPV drones and artillery strikes to halt Russian medium-sized attacks. Notably, Ukrainian forces managed to repel a Russian advance involving a tank and two armored infantry vehicles, with a single Ukrainian tank holding its ground effectively. The footage shows how the Ukrainian tank makes a direct hit on the Russian tank…

  2. i remain supportive of the great efforts and sacrifices that ukraine are making in this war. however every report no matter how positive results in ground lost. was it right to make the command change at the top?

  3. Ukraine had better go out and buy anti-aircraft system with all the money that been pumped into the country and/or take the Russian assets seized to do so.

  4. My heart is hoping Ukraine will win but however reality is showing that the Russians are getting stronger by the day. E.g. when a russian armoured vehicle is destroyed 2 amv's are coming back. When Ukraine is loosing an amv there is no replacement. So that's the same problem with the Ukranian soldiers. Russia has almost endless human resources, Ukraine doesn't. Moreover, China, N-Korea, Iran and who knows more dictatorial leaders are delivering military (hightech)stuff to Russia. It is also incomprehensible that Ukraine is not allowed to attack Russian targets with Western weapons. Putin laughs his ass off at such Western cowardice and of course he takes advantage of it.

  5. The Russians outsmarted themselves with their Kharkiv attacks. They diluted their attacks in other places to bring otherwise idle Ukrainian border forces into the fight. The Ukrainian reinforcements are likely nowhere near the numbers Russia assembled for the effort.

  6. …your analysis is helping the russians; showing them where they should best be directing their efforts against the Ukraine's…

  7. What is notable is that the Russians rarely seem to amass the necessary air and ground forces to take a strategic logistical city in short order. This was an assumed capability pre-Feb 2022. This inability reflects Russian ambition exceeding Russian capability. As they did in Georgia, the Russians likely would have succeeded in securing the full territory of Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts if they had focused on that mission. The Ukrainians also need to take a careful look at their ambitions and capabilities. Ukraine has clearly established a national identity and obtained significant foreign support. A possible strategy involves placing Crimea at risk of total uselessness to Russia and bargaining for the recovery of the full territories of Kherson and Zaporizhya oblasts in exchange for an armistice. It is likely that Russia will violate the armistice, and that Ukraine and its allies should be prepared at that moment to make further recoveries of Ukrainian territory. Watch Russia make a great fuss about Western forces being stationed in Ukraine upon an armistice. They are likely to be successful in intimidating the West on this issue, but they will also be setting the stage for a round of losing rather than gaining ground. Holding Kherson and Zaporizhya keeps Crimea at risk. While Western forces may have only a light presence after an armistice, they can facilitate increased Ukrainian capabilities to rapidly render Crimea useless again. Wherever the line of armistice is established, the conditions of the iron curtain are likely to re-emerge, with Ukraine facing intense subversive efforts by the Russians until Russian militarization results in another "catastrophic" Russian economic implosion.

  8. Le mafieux Poutine déteste tellement l’Occident qu’il y avait placé 300 mds de réserves !
    Chapeau l’artiste ! 🇺🇦🇪🇺🇺🇸💪

  9. I wonder how Russia will pay for repairs once they have lost this war. USA and Germany may ask for Billions to compensate for delivers weapons

  10. These hills are important cause real heavy machine guns and auto-canons can effectively routinely fight targets at 2km. The heavy machine guns are so so so but the auto canons are good. Record tank kills and and record sniper kills are beyond 2km I guess snipers with lighter weapons always shoot under 1000 meters. The hills are important not for the performance of weapons but for observation of enemy and line of sight and a SLIGHT advantage of shooting from above. Remember these are long range shots so the angle advantage is low. No it is the observation of enemy that is helped by being above. Any target can be engaged IF observed so if it is observed on flat ground it dies just the same. Having the hill makes see more targets more easily unless forest.

There are quite some number of videos of swedes in Afghanistan you do NOT need to watch. I can sum up ONE video that I thought was cool. Lone soldier shoot across valley at Swedes. He is up there. Should we not take cover? No, "he do not know he can not hurt us". They call in air support and it was an F15 and since air to ground probably an E model. The F15 says I can not see, can you please shoot at the target? Well the same physics apply to the insurgent as the Swedish forces so they shoot vehicle mounted heavy gun across the valley just to throw up some >dust<. F15 pilot I see. BOOM. And then the swedes moved on.

  11. Quit "Funny" how Putin is
    Cherry-picking.
When rules suit they apply, and when not, there trashed…
    Create chaos and uncertainty.
    -Ignore &
    Keep focus!

  12. Thank-you for all your work and the information you provide.
Please note, a hilltop or mountain top – or any high ground – is at a higher “elevation” than the valley or other low ground, measured as height above sea level.
“Altitude” is the height ABOVE a reference level, usually either sea level or ground level. An aircraft at an altitude of 30,000 feet is usually referencing sea level, while an aircraft at an altitude of 200 feet is probably referencing ground level.
A terrain feature does not have altitude.
Again, thank-you so very much! Please stay safe!

Well known tactic to maximise the efficiency of destructive force.
However I simply grieve that this war is such a total waste, I sometimes wonder if wars are fought for the excitement , I dont have a real word, they bring.
