I really dont understand why he would jeopardise an election for his whole party unless he was only thinking about himself and his “career” as an MSP.

If the Scottish Branch office had the guts, they’d put Matheson front and centre of their campaign. Party that stands up for Scotland by defending a guy who tried to defraud the Scottish Taxpayer…

Didn’t Sir Keir Starmer as DPP charge and the CPS convict 6 sitting Labour MP’s for false accounting along with two Conservative peers after the Expenses scandal.
Many other MPs both Labour and Conservative accused of mis claiming expenses were de selected or didn’t stand for re-election in the following election.
Others included Prime Minister Gordon Broon who repaid £12, 415, repaid mis-claimed expenses the highest being Babs Follet who repaid £42,458.
I imagine if MM hasn’t done anything illegal he won’t be charged, the party will probably test the mood in his constituency regarding de-selection he’ll probably decide nearer the Scottish Government election whether to stand or not.
Doing what the opposition wants isn’t usually the driver for politics.
Just at election time. Spinney/Matheson what a tag team.

I hope it’s a blood bath for the SNP.

The next Holyrood Parliament needs to introduce a proper recall system.
This is ridiculous and it’s not the first time – Derek Mackay should have been gone as well. Many SNP backbench MSPs are royally irritated, there will be cross-party support and it will pass.
