I generally like to believe that even seemingly crazy dictators are not flat-out irrational but end up doing crazy shit as largely rational mean to pursue their goals and that it’s just the goals that might be irrational or overly focused on their domestic power struggle or that the rationality of their means is be distorted by incomplete information from their cronies. So what more or less rational purpose do such actions have at this time? Help me speculate.
