I guess what I don’t understand is, if this was the goal of the Terrorist group, isn’t immediate recognition not encouraging more examples of the attack?
You can still choose to recognize if you want but doing it while Hamas remains in control just shows other groups that attacks have reward.

The PLO and Palestinian Authority don’t actually democratically represent Palestinians, do these countries have any plan for how to prevent Hamas from controlling the Palestinian Authority in the future?
Is the plan for a non-democratic Palestinian state? Or restrictions barring Hamas candidates from office?
Or are we just going to disregard election results we dislike and side with Abbas and Fatah again, like we did in 2006?

I don’tunderstand why Israel is so hostile to the recognition of Palestinian statehood considering it has repeatedly affirmed that it was not interested in ruling Gaza and the other Palestinian cities.
I get the Chinese thinking about Taiwan, they think the island and its population should be theirs. But it Israel doesn’t want Gaza, then isn’t it a way of admitting that Gaza is some kind of state?

Even if they wanted to recognize a Palestinian state, the timing is horrible. You cannot do it right after such a heinous terrorist attack and while the war is ongoing.
Also, unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state in this way violates the Oslo Accords.
Does that mean that they will also call for the elimination of UNRWA since the Palestinians will no longer be considered refugees?
Edit: while I do support Israel these days, I believe that a Palestinian state is the only solution outside of constant war.

Let’s say 90 to 150 countries in the UN recognize Palestine as a country. Those citizens would need passports to come into Israel, and vice versa. Additionally, the Palestinian military could be punished for activities during war. And, Israel would have the authority to occupy long-term to meet their objectives. My guess is Israel would take the Gaza strip and leave them the West Bank. Or, send the entire population to Jordan.
Well they didn’t like us beforehand, and they certainly don’t like us any better now, but I’ll take solace that in the fact they they have failed to to control the narrative on what they are doing on the worldwide stage. Despite their best efforts. It’s actually incredible that they’ve gotten as far as convincing people that saying something like “please stop killing innocent children” is controversial.

Last I checked, Spain never did shit to absolve itself of the inquisition, never returned the property seized, and never restored the property or rights of the thousands they persecuted. The idea it feels qualified to comment on Jewish sovereignty of their homeland after literally exterminating them domestically is laughable

The Palestinians have rejected statehood multiple times if it is conditioned on Israel existing. Also, why recognize it now after Oct 7. This is just rewarding terrorism.
