  1. Who’s going after Kenya? Somalia?

*edit* not sure why the downvotes? They are bordering countries.

  2. Will this have any effect on immigration? Is there any effort to move experts and engineers between countries, or is it just money changing hands?

  3. It’s nice to see Kenya develop and take on a larger role in the world.

I hope the peacekeeping mission in Haiti is successful.

  4. I like ambition but this is over ambitious 🤣🤣🤣

  5. Is that an actual designation, why would they reference NATO for a country not near the Atlantic? Why not just say a major ally?

Congratulations Australia and Japan, we consider you allies, but you’re non-NATO allies.

  6. One of my big gripes about recent US foreign policy is how easy something like this was. Pick like 2 or 3 somewhat successful democratic African states, and give them full backing. My two picks where Kenya and Ghana.

Make them full on military Allie’s, trade deals, the whole lot. And in 50 years you’ll have 2 powerful democratic regional powers that are willing to help fight for the liberal world order.

I’m glad something is actually being done on this front.

Edit: I actually wrote a paper on this back in college on how to combat the belt and road initiative. Invest heavily in 2-3 countries and make the investments quality over quantity.

  7. This is huge. China and Russia are basically colonizing the African continent right now and the US and the West has been asleep at the wheel.

  8. What’s with all these African countries declaring allegiances lately?

  9. For what it’s worth Pakistan is also another of the US’s major non-nato ally despite it being a vassal Chinese state, hiding Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda, supplying nuclear technology to North Korea, Iran, ……..

  10. In 50 years you’ll have two authoritarian regimes siphoning US aid and appointing relatives and sycophants to top positions
