Killed with a previous murder conviction? Thought that would be an automatic whole life order
1) who released him and 2) will that person be sacked

I reckon this sort of thing could be avoided using fMRI brain scans and machine learning to identify those at high risk of recidivism.
I mean no murderer should ever be released from prison. A murderer’s second chance isn’t worth the risk of them killing again.
Modern justice is all about rehabilitation, which is fine for crimes againt society (like drug crime) and against property (eg theft), but for crimes against the person (violent and sexual crimes) punishment and public protection should be the main considerations. On that basis, no murderer deserves a second chance, especially when that second chance has even a slight chance of putting innocent people in danger. Imo murder should always carry a whole life tariff.
And before people say “what about x or y”, 99% of the time the scenarios offered are situations when manslaughter is the appropriate conviction, not murder. Murder requires inted to cause serious harm, and factors like self defence where the person uses too much force, or “fit of rage” (eg attacking someone who previously attacked a loved one) bring a murder charge down to manslaughter, so still a crime, and still prison time, but not a whole life order.
Punishment for serious and pretty crimes is at an all time low in this country.
Jesus this is heartbreaking. You’d think there would be prevention put in place to assess people like him. Or are the prisons to full as they say and they just need space. Wtf
The fuck would a murderer be released back into society?!
Another failure of the justice system costing lives.
Murderer should not be given a second chance easily.
Who’s going to pay for this mistake? One additional life was lost.
Death penalty for murder conviction where the murder happens apart from the first instance? Save tax payer money, jail space etc. I wouldn’t be opposed.
His culture is just not compatible with this country, should have deported him years ago.

Why is there even the tiniest chance this guy will ever leave prison? We should have a real shitty prison for people who have squandered their chance at rehabilitation, where prison time is absolutely just for punishment since we don’t want to turn this scumbag into a productive member of society even if we could.
45 is way too young to be letting a murderer out for having “done his time” 🙄.
Shoulda let him cook inside for _at least_ another 25 years. Then maybe when he’s old and decrepit, he’ll be unable to kill anyone again.
What the bloody hell is going on in the land of the fish and chips?
