Germany has taken a cautious stance on Russia – and will be on the right side of history

  1. History is written by the victor, are people still hoping for war? Do they not understand that war is complete shit and should not be pursued?

  2. I mean, people who pushed for appeasement in the buildup to WWII are not looked at fondly, in fact a lot of people believe that more decisive action could have prevented a major war entirely.

  3. Germany is a Russian trojan horse in NATO, this is not “a cautious stance”.

They want to split Europe with Russians.

  4. Germany is arguably in an enviable position either way if Russia backs down they look reasonable, if Russia doesn’t they look like they tried. Of course in the case of the latter it’s possible that a more robust response would have been enough of a deterrent and in the former it’s would be far from clear whether Germany’s contribution made much of a difference.

The UK and US appear to be trying to deter Russian action and *further* aggression in Ukraine (it’s bizarre that people seem to forget that Russia invaded, occupied and annexed a chunk of the country already..) after all. If they fail they will no doubt be painted (As this article tries to with the link to Saddam) as somehow driving aggression toward Russia..

It doesn’t put Germany on the right side of history of course, but it certainly makes it easier to sell it that way.
