Plenty of Italian cities have their medieval walls almost intact, Rome has the Aurelian walls still very well preserved in many parts (the 1800 years old walls)
I love these little towns, Italy and Spain have such cute old stone villages
And then you visit Thessaloniki and see walls from byzantine and roman times…
I’ve been there! That’s Monteriggioni, there’s also San Gimignano nearby, I go there quite often (it’s my boyfriend’s hometown). It’s a really beautiful area.
huh I think there is a world in sims 3 based on this
No villa? scammed
So is a defending army meant to make use of the fortifications here? Can’t imagine the village itself would be able to put up much of a fight, walls or no. How would all this actually work? Would it be a small scale town watch sort of deal, for anti-bandit work? Couldn’t be many people living there.
We are ready for the inevitable Titan invasion.
Absolutely stunning. If I spent a day in there, I’d probably smoke a little and fantasize about my favorite RPG games. Those walls need defending.
Anyone have an idea how much it would have cost in terms of money/labor for a town like this to build walls? It must have been a sizable investment for such a small community.
Looks like a nice place to hang around during a zombie outbreak.
Looks like a regular 1:1 scale village to me.
In Lucca they made the walls into a park, it’s beautiful.
A huge advantage during the zombie apocalypse
So if the zombie apocalypse starts, the last of us should come here?
why can I hear Stronghold: Crusader music in my head.

Well that’s just awesome
I can almost smell the garlic bread. Mamma mia!
I’m pretty sure that’s Monteriggioni
Monteriggioni?
referenced in Dante’s Divine Comedy
immediate Assassins Creed 2 flashbacks
