Toni Kroos: “I didn’t want to have the feeling that the people around me had to tell me that it’s over. Or that I would end up sitting here on the bench for another two or three years. That, in some ways, wouldn’t be worthy of a career, so I’m glad, that I was able to avoid all those things.”

  1. He’s retiring at the same age as Zidane. So maybe he’s destined to be great Coach too

  2. Totally agree with this. People need just one match to change their opinion so its better to leave when you are on top of your game. He doesnt have anything left either to win in club football anyway

  3. Who’s the last player who retired at his absolute best ?? Can’t remember any

  4. He probably saw everyone praising him for his assist against Bayern and said ‘Yeah, this is a good time to end it’.

  5. Honestly the way he was playing and the way the team is set up, he could have had one more season at this level for sure, but have to respect his decision and what a great career he had.
