I had a last minute extension to a work trip which means I have an unplanned weekend (25-26 May). I am currently based in Schwäbisch Hall.
I initially thought of driving the Black Forest High Road on the B500, but noticed some road closures on Google Maps.
Does this mean that the B500 shouldn’t be considered at all over this weekend?

Potentially even longer, see:
> In the second half of April, up to 40 centimetres of fresh snow led to considerable delays in the construction work. As a result, the full closure between Unterstmatt and Hundseck will be extended until May 24, 2024, while the half-side closure of Omerskopfstrasse will be extended until May 15, 2024.
> The subsequent full closure in the second construction phase between Hundseck and Bühl-Sand will have to be postponed accordingly and will now take place from May 27 to June 1, 2024.
I would not say it can’t be considered at all. You still can reach the Mummelsee (THE tourist spot up there, but still really nice) via the Ruhestein. The section from Ruhestein to Kniebis is also very nice.
What do you plan there? Just to drive or visit stuff?
Ruhestein has the national park visitor center and a neat little chairlift (operates only on weekends). The lift is actually a little technical rarity, as it one of the very few remaining lifts, which is operated as a chairlift in summer and as a T-bar lift in winter.
The Lotharpfad a bit South of the Schliffkopf is a nice place for a walk.
Depending on how you want to drive, you could go Achern > Seebach > Ruhestein or Rastatt > Baiersbronn > Ruhestein to get up there. Then do Ruhestein > Freudenstadt on the B500, then return via the A81.
