At this stage it's just become a place where other shows dump thier unsold and dodgy merch. Genuinely struggled to find anything someone would want for £1!

  1. They’ve been quite clever in keeping the name but ditching the £1 prices.

The name and the way the stores look still makes people think they’re getting a bargain when, in fact, you can buy a lot of the items cheaper elsewhere.

  2. It was always a curiosity to me to understand how Poundland and others like it would maintain the concept of everything being a pound with inevitable inflation. Seems those days are firmly gone.

  3. Poundland.

You’ll take a pounding over the price.

  4. I’ve thought that for ages, because it’s not actually a land. Just a shop.

  5. I’m sure they used to be very clear when something wasn’t a pound too – a *trial* and having those baskets with a big label on it

Now it just looks like a normal store. You could genuinely have taken this in Superdrug for all we know (except they tend to have nicer shelves but you get the point)

  6. I rarely bother going in Poundland these days, there’s better prices in other shops.

  7. They could keep the name but sell everything by the pound. A pound of shampoo, a pound of headphones, a pound of sun hats.

  8. They are no longer the biggest single priced retailer because of this, like everyone else they’ve just become yet another B&M / Home Bargains clone

  9. Poundland is extortionate for brands now and has been for a bit. Glad people are finally cottoning on to it

  10. I stopped shopping there years ago when I started finding stuff cheaper in other shops.

  11. They got fed up of customers messing with them saying ‘excuse me, how much is this?’

    Now they have a reason.

  12. Poundland can fuck right off, always full of shit you wouldn’t buy.

Savers and B&M for the win, occasionally the bigger farmfoods for bulk buys and pound stretchers

  13. Even before the price rises Poundland used shrinkflation and unusual sizing to make the £1 prices.

You’ve always had to be vigilant shopping there.

  14. All they have to do is add an S between the D and the L.

  15. > unsold and dodgy merch

Have you not watched any of Ashens’ YouTube videos?! 😛

  16. One Below is the new Poundland and most stuff is around the £1 mark

  17. It’s called Poundland because you’re pounded every time you visit

  18. What about poundstrecher?

A pound can sketch from £1 to £9.99
