Number does not include Russians who have died due to illequiped Hospitals. Lots of resources (Personal and medicine) is behind the frontlines to prevent higher losses for russian army.

I look at these numbers every day and while I do like seeing the progress I also think it’s quite sad. Behind these numbers are countless civilian deaths, families destroyed, Ukrainian soldiers lives lost and potentially several future generations of poverty and mental health issues for both sides and beyond as the effects ripple through the economy, affecting already struggling families.
The real criminals, the rich and those in power responsible for starting the war and people turning against each other, will probably never see the inside of a prison.
The Soviet-Afghan war was seen as brutal at the time. But it’s nothing compared to this. This is horrific. Soon 500 000 casualties only on the Russian side. It makes the Soviet times seem humane compared to Putin’s Russia. I hope it ends soon with a complete Russian defeat.
I remember when you tuber Vlad Vexler did an analysis of Peter Zeihan’s take on the Russian war against Ukraine,
When Zeihan’s take is a demographic numbers game Vexler pointed out that he didn’t understand the Russian Idea of national existence,
what they did agree 100% was that Russia has never given up a full scale war before losing 500k soldiers.
This has to do with how the Russian war doctrine works as they just send the leeks of society to the front,
but this is a modern war where the Russian nation will have to produce all their own weapons of war, unlike WW2 where the US where the main supplier of weapons to the USSR .
And now there’s no unemployment in Russia, Putin may squeeze 300k out of the “mobilization” system, but how many desperately needed workers will run away this time?
Plus the Russian war chest probably will be empty sometime this year, all this while Ukraine will mobilize around 300-400k men.

Fast approaching a half a million Russian casualties. I don’t mean to invoke sympathy for the enemy but good god. Putin is sending his own people to a slaughter. I think I read there are over 50,000 dead Russians and countless have been sent home with gruesome, life changing injuries. Seems like for every dead Russian solider, Putin gains an inch UA territory. How much longer does this go on for? I feel like the international community needs to take much bigger stakes to stop Putin from inflicting further harm on Ukraine….and Russia too.
