Once push comes to shove, I think these numbers will decline heavily. Many rich Ukrainians just pay bribes to postpone their serive and dodge the draft. It always comes down to people from lower classes then to defend their motherland.
What’s with these fancy words? Just say military or when talking about “lethal aid” just say weapons…
It shows a certain attitude. Not the chest-pounding glory hunting of the USA or China, not the duty outside or the calm inside of EU countries. A sober, almost depressed ad that showcases that most of these people would like to do something else.
Most of the Ukrainian people don’t want to shoot Russians, they don’t want to kill or be killed. They just want to live their lives.
I know people here tend to be rather cynical and not believe in the virtues of others, but I do believe that a lot of people will attempt to fight for the home they know.
Russia is not necessarily the Soviet Union, but they are certainly strongly connected. Crimea has a huge Russian population. That much is true. But the question is, why is that? A hundred years ago it was full of Tartars. What happened to them after the Soviet Union got their hands on them? What happened to a good chunk of the Latvian population?
Getting taken over by Russia has a reasonable case that there is a lot more to it than who you pay your taxes to.
