Please call RSPCA or local wildlife group. If it is sick, it could spread to other birds
Maybe see if any public health agencies are monitoring for avian influenza. They might want to have a look.
I’d be washing my hands after that…
I’m no vet but I am an ecologist. Looks like a young one and it clearly didn’t succumb to nutritional distress. That’s a sick bird. I note you said it died on impact, I’d be scrubbing that hand very thoroughly if I was you, just in case it was bird flu or something.
Is the this the first photo of Patient Zero?
Of course patient zero would be a redditor
And I had done a hellish thing,
And it would work ’em woe:
For all averred, I had killed the bird
That made the breeze to blow.
Ah wretch! said they, the bird to slay,
That made the breeze to blow!
Anybody else find it weird that OP has just picked up a dead bird bare handed?
Why did you pick it up like that? No offence dude but that’s a pretty fucking unhinged thing to do.
Did it fall into your hands or something? Why would you pick it up
Avian influenza can affect humans in some cases. I’d imagine you’ve heavily increased your chances by handling a likely affected bird.
Hope you didn’t subconsciously wipe your mouth / pick your nose etc..
Absolutely insane to just pick it up like that hahahaha
“Oh look, a bird just fell out of the sky dead. Probably sick with something. Better pick it up with my bare hands for internet clout”
Why on earth pick it up?
Bird flu. I would wash your hands thoroughly!
Hey guys, found a dead rat whilst eating my KFC… I picked it up bare handed and rubbed it over my face and clothes as you do…
Anyway my KFC was delicious. Think I might go to a high population area now, maybe an international airport.

Why the fuck would you pick up a dead wild animal you actual lunatic
That was a dumb thing to do. Please look after yours and others around your’s health more carefully. No wants you to wake up dead one day! Bird flu is a real danger and you increased your chances of dying from it by a not insignificant amount.
Had a pigeon do that once while walking through the city centre. Very nearly landed on my head. Some young kids were walking towards me so I subtly pushed into the corner of an unused doorway next to me with my foot.
Why the frick did you pick up a dead bird? There’s so many diseases and parasites that it could have, especially considering it’s dead…
Last week I had a seagull die and land in my gutter.
I called the council to try and get it taken away, no luck.
Tried a different public service that is meant to deal with them, no luck. Tried to pay for someone to remove it and no one would. In the end I did it myself with rubber gloves and multiple bin bags etc.
I thought i was being overly cautious as I am an anxious person so it feels good to see Reddit roast this guy for just picking it up bare handed.
I was walking to my local corner shop one day when a bunch of young kids shouted me over to where they were excitedly gathered round a massive dead rat lying at the side of the road, because they wanted to show it to a grown up. It was the most disgusting but oddly wholesome interaction I’ve had with The Youth Of Today.
Even those feral wee Fifers had the common sense to poke the dead animal with a stick instead of grabbing at it with their bare hands.
Bird flu. Go wash your hands, OP.
For fuck’s sake I don’t want to have to fight for loo roll again
We’re gonna have to wear masks again thanks to this guy
OP must be trolling. What kind of sick individual would pick up a dead animal to take a pic, especially for Reddit.
Along with the news of a human catching bird flu confirmed lol
Lol and OP is 35, they should definitely know better. What a hilarious situation
DEFRA reading this thread have changed the bulb on the alert meter to amber.
D’ya fink it’s dead?
A seagull dies so quickly and without warning that it dies mid flight.
And you think it’s a good idea to touch it to your bare skin 😁
Def report in case of avian flu
I’ve taken a sick sparrow into the local wildlife hospital today. My cats decided to play catch with it yesterday… sigh.
Hopefully just a broken wing, but I saw on the sign they don’t want any avian flu risk in the hospital…
Great catch!
I honestly can’t understand the thought process behind a dead bird dropping from the sky and thinking “I’ll pick that up with my bare hands to take a picture”.
World: came through a 2 year pandemic caused by animal to human virus mutation.
Redditor while bird flu is killing off birds in the UK: grabs dead bird falling from sky for photo opportunity.
Do you also lick bus windows OP?
I swear to fucking god if avian flu ruins everyone’s summer you’ll have pitchforks at your door OP
Alright burd
Mmmm. Tasty.
Time to bulk buy that toilet paper again…
And you are touching it? Darwin award candidate.
We’re currently having worldwide bird flu outbreak – the worst seen yet, which has a 50% death rate in humans, and folk just go and play with dead birds? This is what they call a “Darwin Award”.
1 less of the fuckers to shit on my car or steal my chips

Jfc, I can’t believe you picked it up.
You’re mid 30s and picked up a dead bird bare handed… mental case of natural selection.
