  1. From Der Spiegel:

“The federal government is strengthening Ukrainian air defense. According to SPIEGEL information, another Iris-T-SLM anti-aircraft system arrived in Ukraine on Friday. Ukraine now has four medium-range Iris-T systems and one short-range Iris-T system.

Over the past year and a half, the weapon systems have proven to be very effective in protecting the major Ukrainian cities of Kiev and Lviv against Russian air attacks. They also intercepted cruise missiles targeting critical energy infrastructure.

In total, Berlin has promised Kiev nine IRIS-T SLM air defense systems and eleven IRIS-T SLS air defense systems, which are manufactured by the German company Diehl Defense. They are eagerly awaited in Ukraine. However, there is not only a lack of anti-aircraft systems there. The ammunition for this is also scarce and has to be rationed. Due to increased Russian airstrikes and supply bottlenecks from suppliers, the manufacturer is struggling to keep up with demand in Ukraine.

A brief sigh of relief in Ukraine
The news of the arrival of another Iris-T system should bring a brief sigh of relief in Ukraine. In view of the Russian offensive in the northeast of the country, President Volodymyr Zelensky is urging Western allies to provide his army with additional anti-aircraft defenses. […]”

Editorial sidenote: German news outlets still often use the old russian spelling instead of ‘Kyiv’.

  2. Germany is becoming the armory of democracy 2.0

Thank-you so much to the people of Germany 🇩🇪

  3. In theory this sounds good, but addional systems don´t help as long as Ukraine is already limited in their capabilities because of a lack of missiles. Ukraine doesn´t have enough missiles for 3 systems and now they have a 4th one
