Sure we’ve a 6 billion surplus, let’s just open the doors.
Remember, like UBI, we’ll save so much money if we don’t have to pay staff to handle the infrastructure, it’ll practically pay for itself.
>Deputy McNamara said the department has “little control over spending” on asylum seekers.
>“They’re just shovelling out money and making millionaires of property owners,” he said.
>“Unless the Government ensures decision making is being made a [faster] rate, the numbers being accommodated will grow, the demand will grow, and the providers are aware of that and will take advantage of that in a free market economy.
>“We are making millionaires of a small number of people because of the Government’s in ability to plan for this.”
A lot of charitably to pretend the constant wealth transfer of tax money into private hands in this country isn’t intentional and is due to incompetence.
We’ve long had the ability to both build our own facilities to house asylum seekers and regulate the amount we’re accepting.
But a metro is too expensive for all these years
€33k per person over two years purely on accommodation costs is pretty obviously terrible value for money. Are they all being put up in individual new-build apartments in D4?
Is the state aware that we can build houses? And that doing so might create jobs and continue to provide value for decades down the line? Or are they handing black cheques to non-productive landlords and hoteliers just for the fun of it?
How are their friends going to make money if they don’t do this ? Think of your man Banty and all his family who need that money. Fuck your public services and other shit .
Having a rail connection to dublin airport is too much though.
That’s a lot of tents.
How about rather than accepting them by default we do the opposite and deny them ? Just like everything in this country is overloaded and people are not getting provided the services they need this should be the same for them. We do not have enough money or time to perform checks on them then it should be automatic deny.
I guess they could look ahead and start building purpose accommodation to save money, But this sin would be up on arms about encouraging more immigration and the locals would be burning it down.
Can’t win.

Hi. Yeah, we’re fucking drowning in the cost of living. Could you build some houses or give us some money please?
