    I guess I needed something that made Labour winning election vaguely postive, god forbid Starmer doesn’t try to one up and make it 16.

  6. I think they’re doing everything they can to lose. We’ve got two student nurses right now who would fall into that category that double as hca’s too. Can you imagine them not being able to come in because they had to plant some bulbs in the community? What about someone with a baby who works weekends because the grandparents provide childcare? Fucking mental this lot are

  9. Labour will get into Government and say that National Service won’t happen. The shit will hit the fan with Russia and we’ll end up with conscription again.

  11. More European countries are contemplating this. Russia is a big threat, pending US elections.

  14. Something like 43% of people over 65 support this national service idea. The very same people who *didn’t have to do national service themselves* as it was abolished in 1960. The youngest person to have done it is now over 80. Boomers can be such fucking hypocrites.

  15. As someone that’s signed up for the draft already (had no choice as I turned 21 when I lived in the US, even though I’m British), I think it’s a scary thing to think of. But to be honest, it looks like Russia may come knocking at some point. This is likely only the first step to prepare us for that reality
