The song in question is Home by Kassidy.
Backstory: Many years ago, like over a decade, I first heard this song randomly (iirc, someone's name on a forum was Kassidy and they posted this or sth.) For some reason 14 year old me became obsessed with the song, but I had a hard time figuring out the lyrics (I would later learn I have auditory processing disorder, but anyway.)
So I ended up asking a Scottish guy on a different forum to transcribe it for me, and I vividly remember to this day he made an offhand comment like "ugh, this is about scottish independence?" before telling me the lyrics.
Ten years later, I came across this song again…and I still have no fucking clue what could possibly be a reference to independence apart from maybe "it's the things that I can't say."
So please…help me put my mind to ease. Was that guy some nutter, or is there a hidden meaning I don't know?

It could be.
Could it be about independence, possibly. Is that the most likely explanation, no not obviously.
