“Both sides” 🙄
We only have ourselves to blame for these people being in power. The average person still believes that their vote doesn’t count. These nuts know better and they show up to every single election.
I assume the Texas GOP will keep their plank from previous years that declares homosexuality an abomination.
which bible…I’ve got 4 diff vers and they all read different
In 2022, they voted to both secede and strike down federal laws for the nation. Like Texas is totally independent of the US, but also the US has to do what we demand even though we’re not part of the US anymore.
They don’t get to pick and choose so here comes the Koran and the Satanic Bible…
Fucking embarrassing
They are mad with power.
The exact type of people that should never have power to begin with.
Why do they put their yelp review on the flag?
Fascism
PSA: If our votes didn’t matter, these people wouldn’t be trying so hard to suppress them.
Please vote. Don’t take that precious right to vote for granted, lest it be taken away.
This stuck out to me, among all the expected ridiculous crap:
“Christian billionaires”
What an oxymoron.
Well sure you had 2 million more votes, but you lost a *a slight majority of counties*.
I lived in Texas (austin) for 26 years and fought the long defeat against these fascists. The final straw was when people elected Ken Paxton 2 years ago – a thoroughly corrupt person who has used the power of his office to grift and lie and protect the powerful.
The key to these policies are none of them help the people of Texas and they are 100% fascist playbook items – attack minorities and women.
The price Texas will pay is that business are rethinking Texas as an option or openly leaving.
>One proposal asserts that illegal immigration is the “greatest threat to American security and sovereignty” and calls for the state and federal governments to devote all available resources to deporting undocumented immigrants.
This won’t end well for themselves. Door-to-door deportations means door-to-door gun checks and door-to-door 4473 form checks. Inviting the government to be a police state and declaring other people to be public enemy number one invites the sort of military occupation these people believe won’t also apply to themselves. Many people will look at this and see it as an attack on mexicans. This is true, but it is also a larger attack on Americans themselves, it is a war against freedom, and a battle against personal liberty. Texas is likely to be very successful and in doing so seal their own demise as Federal troops come in and impose their will onto Texans themselves .. after being asked by Texans to do so. And by then, they won’t be able to elect anyone that isn’t a corrupt thug. The entire state will be locked into a single straight war against it’s largest cities, which will cripple the entire state’s ability to be economically successful. This happens just as it’s oil industry is slated for permanent decline as other states adopt EVs permanently.
Which is what these people want so they can have a rationale to start shooting.
> constitutional amendment that would require statewide elected leaders to win the popular vote in a majority of Texas counties.
This was already popular before in the Texas GOP platform. They want to create the electoral college at the county level for the state, basically. It has to be something like 10% of the population of the state with the lowest populate counties being 50%+1 could amend their constitution (which was what they were calling for before).
There’s really no words to describe it other than the GOP, and the Texas GOP in particular has given up on representative democracy because they fear it will shortly not benefit them to do so any longer.
Time to break up TexASS. Take away their statehood and break them into 5 separate unincorporated territories.
On mobile so can’t format this quote but:
The party’s platform also reiterates its previous calls for the repeal of the Voting Rights Act.
Mhm. GOP, you want to keep saying MLK is on your side. I hate my birth state.
But, but, but….gEnOcIDe jOe
Texas, the theocratic nightmare.
If you can’t win, cheat!
Texas = North Korea
Wow, what could go wrong there? Surprised they didn’t try to add banning renewables from the power grid.
Bibles in schools? I thought books that discussed homosexuality, rape & murder weren’t allowed in school?
I’ve got to get out of Texas. The crazy level is getting alarming.
I honestly think I might see Texas try to secede in my lifetime.
Sounds authoritarian to me
Dystopian ideas.
“Republican Party of Texas delegates voted Saturday on a platform that called for new laws to require the Bible to be taught in public schools and a constitutional amendment that would require statewide elected leaders to win the popular vote in a majority of Texas counties.
Other proposed planks of the 50-page platform included proclamations that “abortion is not healthcare it is homicide”; that gender-transition treatment for children is “child abuse”; calls to reverse recent name changes to military bases and “publicly honor the southern heroes”; support for declaring gold and silver as legal tender; and demands that the U.S. government disclose “all pertinent information and knowledge” of UFOs.”
Getting real tired of people trying to force us to join there book club.
