  1. Warm summer weather continues across the country on Sunday, with the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) reporting temperatures approaching heatwave levels in the south.

    The central part of the country is expected to be sunny and warm on Sunday. Temperatures will generally be between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.

    Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected in Finland’s southwest this afternoon. These may be accompanied by strong gusts of wind and hail. The showers and thunderstorms will gradually fade into the evening.

    Wildfire warnings are in effect throughout the country, with the most severe warnings in Päijät-Häme, South Savo and South Karelia. This means that open fires are prohibited, including in disposable grills. Lightning strikes ignited a series of wildfires on Saturday.
